Just finished a wonderful couple of days at the Pangolin Photo Safaris Hotel where we enjoyed both a boat cruise and game drive experiences.

Over the duration of only two days, we enjoyed many breathtaking - even magical sightings! From spectacular sunsets on the Chobe River with elephants, hippos and giraffe, to lions swimming through the channel - with crocs in pursuit! We even witnessed a 'carnivorous' Guinea fowl feasting on a mouse and had a fantastic time with moses.in.focus who open shared his knowledge, photo tips and experiences.

We look forward to including this exquisite place to our itinerary for exclusive bookings, so if you're interested keep an eye out on our Newsletter. We weren't planning on launching this tour until 2028, however after such a magnificent experience, we're looking into sneaking a tour into a busy 2027 schedule.

Newsletter subscribers will be the first to know about the tour including all that it entails, as well as a recap of images taken over these past few days. So stay tuned for more coming very soon.

To Pangolin Photo Safari's, thank you for an unforgettable time. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and it was a privilege to meet the wonderful team. See you all again soon!

This male lion we encountered in the Okavango Delta last month had a habit of climbing into trees. Like a phantom of the night, he silently observed life from an angle unusual to most male lions. Through our safaris and productions, we've come to know this coalition of males quite well, however never experienced such unique behavior, and were not sure what the cause was. He would climb into dead and living trees, and not only a small way up, he would climb into the summit, stoped only by the trees own limitation.

We also witnessed 2 cheetah brothers do the same last year - climbing into the canopy of k**b thorn trees, which isn't an easy feat.

A hippo charges at a male lion whose time on earth ended less than 12 hours after this event. The male lion, known as the S8 male, was quenching his thirst when this hippo charged out of the water, sending him running for cover.

He was so weak he nearly never made it, and while finding the strength to run for cover, the place where he lay became his final resting place. It was a tragic scene, but all part of natures infinite dance - between life and death.

Few places in South Africa can compare to the Sabi Sands when it comes to big cat sightings and wildlife interaction. It's a haven for animals - particularly the leopard of which this tour revolves around. This tour is for those who love big cats and are looking for that dream postcard quality image while enjoying a comfortable, luxurious experience.

This scene was captured on a previous Sabi Sand Big Cat Photographic Safaris with - next month we head back to to kick off our 2026 Big Cat Safaris.

We have only 1 room available for 2026! If this has been on your bucket list of tours, contact us today to secure your place on this magical experience.

Just returned home from an incredible journey into Botswana's Okavango Delta. Navigating around the flooded plains wasn't easy, however we were rewarded for our efforts with a handful of exceptional sightings - dominated by lions in trees!

Now it's time to prepare for the next journey - as I'm joined by and heading to Zambia's South Luangwa National Park. We depart this weekend, making our way up for the very first time into this spectacular region.

The main objectives will be for both photographic safaris and future projects/ productions in mind, ensuring the best experience for our guests as well as for the publications. Exciting things happening for our guests and our team!

En-route we will be making 2 very special visits in Botswana and Zambia ... more on that soon!

The Okavango is as green and wet as I've ever seen it. Over half of the dead tree forest (Khwai) is unaccessible due to flooding (excessive rains) and we even saw a Mokoro floating through where we drove only months ago. The skies are painted in elegant strokes of lilac and the bush in glowing emerald. Wildlife is in abundance, particularly zebra herds that congregate in the open areas at night under a starlit sky. The atmosphere is serene, the sounds of bell frogs echoing across the marshy plains. It's a spectacular scene to behold and I look forward to sharing the exciting stories captured on this journey with you shortly.

However before those videos go live, this weekend we depart for Zambia's South Luangwa in search of the famed 'Valley of the Leopard,' as we explore new regions with bountiful opportunities.

Leopards ... Very few animals on the African continent need less introduction. On this day we celebrate one of Africa’s most iconic and enigmatic creatures - a symbol of power, mystery, and resilience.

For centuries, leopards have held a place of prestige in human history. Their skins were worn by kings, chiefs, and warriors as a mark of authority, status, and spiritual strength. Across many cultures, the leopard was not just admired, it was revered. Yet, that same admiration led to their persecution. They were hunted relentlessly for their beautiful coats, trophies, and in some cases, out of fear.

Today, their story is shifting. We no longer celebrate the leopard for what we can take from it, but for what it represents in the wild: endurance, adaptability, and raw, untamed beauty. From dense forests to arid savannas, leopards have survived where many others couldn't. Silent, elusive, and elegenetly captivating, they remind us of nature’s intelligence and balance.

There’s something deeply stirring about locking eyes with a leopard in the wild. In that moment, everything sharpens - your senses heighten, your breath slows, and you feel truly alive. They inspire us not only as photographers and storytellers, but as humans connected to something far greater.

Today, we honour the leopard - not as a symbol of possession - but as a living embodiment of wilderness itself.

Happy Leopard Day!

A curious Spotted hyena cub comes to investigate our vehicle as the cover of darkness slowly engulfs another spectacular day in the Okavango Delta.

One of the greatest privileges I had during the production of Eden - Soul of Africa, was to spend a considerable amount of time at the hyena den, during day and night. During daylight hours the young cubs would feel vulnerable and be nervous with the approaching vehicles, often hiding in the termite mound until engines are turned off - then slowly and cautiously appear again. They never approached us during the day and kept a wary distance.

Under the cover of darkness they were a difference creature altogether. The night gave them confidence and they would often approach vehicles nonchalantly, chewing tires and even once grabbed a guests handbag from an open safari vehicle. Unfortunately this behavior was encouraged by many guides to give their guests an 'exciting' close-up experience. This often resulted in damaged vehicles, tires and upset guests, however it did highlight the complete change in behavior in individuals which was rather interesting. A simple start of the engine was often all it took to deter this behavior and the hyenas quickly lost interest in the vehicles, choosing to rather investigate more natural 'toys.'

This also proved their incredible intelligence, as they quickly learned not to try their luck with our vehicle, and respected a level of distance from us. Over time I started to really appreciate how cunning, mischievous and highly intelligent these animals really are! Camera traps were also installed around my camp, and the most frequent visitor - just after dark - was almost always the hyena!
