Some couples arrive in front of the camera already carrying history. Junior & Nadine are one of those couples.

After photographing them before, it felt less like a photoshoot and more like catching up with old friends among the rocks and ocean air. During a recent shoot with friends, we stole a few quiet moments just for the two of them… and of course Bella, their beautiful golden retriever, who fully understood she was part of the main cast.

There’s something effortless about these two. The kind of connection that doesn’t need posing instructions every second. Just a look, a laugh, a forehead touch, and suddenly the camera becomes invisible.

Grateful to keep documenting little chapters of their story as it unfolds.

Some people leave a little sparkle wherever they go, and Liezl Pretorius is one of them.

Known by so many in Hermanus as the energetic maths teacher at Generation School, Liezl has been part of so many family stories, including my own. As she and her family prepare to leave Hermanus and begin a new chapter in America, I wanted to gift them a family shoot to capture this special season before the page turns.

We wandered through the old town streets of Hermanus, stopped at Black Medicine for coffee and croissants, visited a few meaningful spots, and ended down at the Old Harbour.

The Pretorius family brought such warmth, laughter and playfulness to the session. It felt like a beautiful pause before a new beginning.

Liezl, your sparkle will be missed in Hermanus. I have no doubt you will carry that same joy with you wherever life takes you next.

The celebrations for Natalie’s 40th birthday continued the following morning in Stanford, where the group gathered at the indoor padel courts for a lively and energetic start to the day.

When I arrived, the atmosphere was already warm and relaxed. Freshly baked croissants and good coffee were being enjoyed while friends chatted and slowly eased into the morning. Soon enough, rackets were picked up and the courts filled with laughter as match after match began. Some were clearly seasoned players, others simply joined in for the fun of it, but the spirit of the morning was the same for everyone. Friendly competition, plenty of cheering from the sidelines, and lots of moments of celebration after a good shot or a close rally.

Set inside the indoor courts in Stanford, it was the perfect continuation of Natalie’s birthday weekend, active, joyful, and filled with the kind of shared moments that make a celebration truly memorable.

Natalie’s 40th birthday celebrations began with a beautiful Friday afternoon gathering at Bosman Wine Estate. Friends and family arrived from Cape Town, nearby towns, and even Gauteng, all coming together for a special weekend away in her honour.

In the light-filled Frame Room overlooking the vineyards, guests enjoyed a relaxed wine tasting while platters were shared around the table and conversation flowed easily. Outside, the children ran freely across the farm, adding to the carefree atmosphere of the afternoon.

As the sun softened over the vineyards, violinist Donné performed, filling the room with music and giving the start of Natalie’s birthday weekend a truly memorable touch.
