Anneli Young Photography

Anneli Young Photography www.anneliyoung.co.za I grew up in Despatch, Eastern Cape. I married my husband in 2006 and we farm with citrus and avocados in Hankey, EC. I am a “real” person.

I am a musician and studied music at the NMMU in Port Elizabeth. After I got my BMus(music) degree, I taught for a few years but it was not until I was almost done with my 3 months’ maternity leave that I realized I don’t want to be that mom, I want to be on the farm with my son. I resigned from the school I was teaching at and don’t regret that decision for one minute. My best friend got married

shortly after, I have never even thought of being a wedding photographer before then, those were my first wedding photos I ever took, and the rest as they say is history. It started small with a few photos here and there and later everywhere! Hankey is such a small town and the support I have been getting from our community is so overwhelming. I LOVE what I’m doing now, the fact that my hobby turned into a business, makes me feel so blessed. I also have 3 beautiful kids, Shawn 12, Hayley 10 and Emily 6 - and they have filled my life with nothing but happiness. I feel like I am busy living the best years of my life. I didn’t study to be a photographer, it just happened, I feel it was meant to be and would love to make you part of my story. I am extremely blessed to have such an amazing support base - and that I have so many clients at the same time. Thanks for taking the time to visit my page. I would love to be part of your story # # #

What a year! It was amazing and not-so-amazing all rolled into one.
I was blessed to be nice and busy and is using what is left of this year to finish up my editing and to reflect on success, but also to acknowledge and reflect on the shortcomings of 2023.
This year was a roller-coaster of stuff, and it's always good to sit and figure out ways to make things better and to see what worked and what didn't.

I wish you all a very blessed festive season and encourage you all to do the same and also reflect on both the good and the bad as we head into a new year, filled with possibilities!

I am looking forward to sharing more with all of you here. I am grateful for your support and encouragement! Thank you! ❤️

Much love
Anneli

What can I say, other than "what a day!". The most unconventional wedding and what a way to end off my 2023 wedding run.

Jaco and Helen got married at the in Patensie. What a beautiful setting. The light in the greenhouse was absolutely amazing with it's transparent roofing and being set in the middle of a nursery, there were greenery and plants all over. There were no set tables, it was just one big jol with great people, fires burning, party music, a few songs by Herman Kleinhans and lekker food.

It rained. It properly rained yesterday, and we unfortunately couldn't travel into the valley to take photos because it was just too muddy. But then you make plans and you book a Bubble House from and present a photo opportunity that was a first for me. The bubble house filled with sage green and white balloons gave us a very cool setting to do some cool photos.

Helen got dressed at the art studio of . What a great change of the norm, to be in such a lovely open space with amazing and unique art around. Helen's mom made her dress, how special is that!

And of course, getting married on the day of a Rugby World Cup semi-final, you should know that it will be formally announced that your wedding reception is now paused for the duration of the game. What a vibe! (is everyone okay? 😅 🇿🇦)

May the rest of your life together be one giant celebration like last night

Looking at the weather prediction is something I do daily for a week before every wedding. Just to be ready for whatever nature throws at me on the day. So when I started looking at the prediction for this weekend, I realized that 80% of rain was going to come down at some point during the afternoon and it looked like we were just going to have to go with it.

The officiant, LMS Life Counselling, called all the parental figures to the front for a final blessing during the ceremony at The Woods Venue. And then it came. The heavens opened at that exact perfect moment. Rain on a wedding day can be absolutely daunting, but knowing that my cameras can take it and that I don't mind getting a little soaked for a great shot, all one can hope for is that the couple feels the same way!

I met Ivan and Stacey through their brother Warren, whom I met at a wedding I did in Hogsback, on this exact same weekend, two years ago. Ivan and Stacey met each other at Kwandwe Private Game Reserve, where they both work. They are absolute nature lovers and to say they were game for anything (pun intended), is an understatement. They embraced the rain and didn't mind getting a little soaked with me for the best possible photos on their special day

The much anticipated wedding played itself off in Patensie yesterday where Graham and Leana said their I do's on the farm. They built their own facilities over the last few months to be able to host their guests. The wind was a bit of a concern starting out the day, but it soon settled and by 3pm, we had the most beautiful day in the Kloof.

Leana has been signing her name "amper-Kok" for a while now! With unique everything, from her bridesmaids' dresses, the stunning bouquet of flowers, her shocking pink party bow, to the exact same wedding car as what Grahams' parents used for their wedding years ago, the attention to details and the feeling of love, happiness and being content, surrounded by family and friends, is what made yesterday's wedding such a special one for me.

Dirk's driving abilities made us get to the sunset in the koringlande just on time and colourful smoke bombs made a gorgeous backdrop for this equally colourful couple
