Months in the making — and this morning it finally happened. 🙏🏻

I flew my drone from Mackerel Beach to Roman Rock Lighthouse, a flight that’s been sitting on my bucket list for so long. Today my schedule, the weather, and the light all lined up… and I couldn’t have asked for a better window. ✨️

There’s something unreal about seeing Roman Rock from the air. It’s a 14 metre cast iron tower out in False Bay near Simon’s Town, and it’s the only lighthouse in South Africa built on a single rock in the ocean. The light was first exhibited on 16 September 1861, and it still signals the entrance to the harbour with a white flash every 6 seconds. 💡

Even the build story is wild — the tower was built between 1861 and 1865, designed by Alexander Gordon, and the seas and winds meant there were only limited workable days out there. 🌀

Today felt like one of those rare “history meets horizon” moments — a reminder that some dreams just need patience… and the right morning. 💙

Started my day with a refreshing swim at Dalebrook tidal pool, then took to the skies with my DJI Mini 5 Pro. ✨️

Flying over the iconic St James tidal pool and the vibrant Kalk Bay harbour reminded me just how breathtaking Cape Town’s coastline truly is. A perfect mix of adventure and serenity! 💙

Flew my drone over Zandvlei, an estuary in Muizenberg, and captured the breathtaking flow of water winding its way into False Bay—connecting to the vast Indian Ocean currents. ✨

Zandvlei Estuary is situated in Cape Town, South Africa and borders on the suburbs of Lakeside, Marina da Gama, Muizenberg and Steenberg. The rivers and streams that feed the estuary drain the eastern slopes of the southern extension of the Table Mountain chain.

A vital nursery for fish and sanctuary for birds, it’s where wetlands meet the sea in perfect harmony.

Yesterday evening I had the privilege of flying my drone at the 5km Fun Run, hosted at Clovelly Country Club. ✨️

The run began at 6pm, right as golden hour lit up the coastline. From above, I could see Fish Hoek Beach on the Indian Ocean side and Noordhoek Beach on the Atlantic side — both glowing under a spectacular sunset. 🌅

It was incredible to capture not only the beauty of the setting but also the energy of families, runners, and supporters coming together for the fundraiser in support of the school. 🙏🏻
