NF Photography A story-photographer finding joy in the candid, the real, and the unscripted. Moments into Memories Posed shots? Not my style.

I'm no pro—just a hobby photographer who finds joy in the candid, the real, and the unscripted. I'm all about those genuine smiles, unplanned laughs, and the essence of the moment. Capturing moments and turning them into memories is my kind of therapy. Whether it's a lively event or a quiet sunset, I'm there, camera in hand, ready to freeze those beautiful seconds in time. A number cruncher by pro

fession but a passionate shutterbug at heart. I enjoy the social aspect to events and take payment in wine ;)

When creativity runs dry, faith sometimes steps in💜

A little testimony behind this maternity shoot:

A couple of weeks ago some dear church friends asked me to do a maternity shoot for them. Normally before a shoot I spend time doing some research and thinking of creative ideas. But that week was just crazy and emotionally draining.

By the time the day of the shoot arrived, clouds were looming and a storm was brewing. In the sky and in my heart. Any creative person will tell you that drawing creative energy from empty is no easy task.

As I drove toward Danger Point Lighthouse I simply prayed:
Lord please don't let it rain. Please give me the energy. Please give me creative ideas and vision. And please let my camera settings cooperate with the lighting.

And oh my word, He delivered.

God is so faithful, even in the smallest of things. When I felt like I had nothing left to give in my own capacity, He filled my cup and carried the moment.

This photos are just a couple from that evening, and honestly some of the best photos I've ever taken (in my humble opinion).

🌅 Stanford Sunset Market - a Village Kind of Magic

Last night we attended the first Sunset Market in Stanford of 2026, and what an absolute joy it was. The vibe was just right, the stalls as wonderful as ever. Wine and beer, cheese and gin, smoky delights from GoSlowgoodaroundyou, and of course Calories (always a hit)… and then, well, the wine. Let’s be honest, that’s the real reason most of us were there.

But what really stood out to me (perhaps because of where my heart and lens are focused lately) was the kids. I took mine along, and before long there was this natural little gathering spot where the village children gravitated. One clever mom arrived with toys to share, and just like that, a tiny community formed.

When I returned from grabbing food and drinks, I found my son happily sitting there, sharing another friend’s meal. I apologised and thanked the mom, and she simply smiled and said she truly hopes that one day, someone will give her child some chippies in that same situation.🥹

And isn’t that exactly it?
It takes a village to raise a child, and last night, that phrase felt beautifully real.

Thank you, Stanford Village. You were a treat. 📸💜

🎄 Rivergate Christmas Market — A Jingling Success (Again!) ✨

Like every event they host, the annual Rivergate Christmas Market once again delivered — and then some. It truly never disappoints.

From beautiful local crafts and charming trinkets for the Christmas tree, to an irresistible spread of food and drinks… this market had it all. Think trusty old favourite burgers, indulgent gelato, bespoke takeaway treats, and of course, local wines, craft beers, and gin bars that kept the festive spirit flowing.

Hats off to the Rivergate team and every vendor involved — the heart, effort, and creativity behind this event shine through year after year.

I can proudly say I’ve never missed one of these markets, and somehow… each one just keeps getting better than the last. 🎶📸

🎨 A Little Midweek Magic at Bisque It – Hermanus ☕

Yesterday our manager treated us to an afternoon out at Bisque It - and what a treat it was! Rows of beautiful pottery pieces waiting to be brought to life...

Our artistic skills were definitely put to the test, but more than anything, the day was filled with laughter, good conversation, and a few snacks that made it all even sweeter.

Sometimes a little creativity, connection, and colour are exactly what the soul needs. 💜

“Every flower is a soul blossoming in nature.” – Gérard de Nerval 🌸

This month’s photo club theme was flowers — and of course, I had to take the road less travelled.

How stunning is the artichoke flower? Titled "Art of the Artichoke".... Mysterious in its subdued tones, yet quietly powerful — beauty revealed not in colour, but in form and depth.

And then, the radiant Cosmos, lovingly titled “Cosmic Radiance.” The cosmos holds such a nostalgic place in my heart. Where I grew up, they stretched meters high — fields upon fields of pink and white swaying in the wind. A breathtaking season of my childhood that I dearly miss here in the fynbos kingdom, where cosmos don’t naturally grow.

Both of these were captured at Rivergate Guest Farm — a photographer’s dream, with SO many photo opportunities and beauty around every corner🌿✨

There’s nothing humble about a peacock — and that’s the point. 😋
It teaches us that even nature needs a little theatre, a little sparkle, a little shimmer, a little reminder that joy can be loud and alive.

✨ “A matric dance — the night where the past meets the promise of tomorrow.”

Zoë and Nina — although born on the same day, their personalities are miles apart. Watching this unfold through my lens was such a joy. One, as sparkly and vibrant as her shimmering dress; the other, more reserved, carrying a deep and captivating soul for those who take the time to look beyond the surface.

Adding to the beauty of the evening, Maretha and Oupa Ruurd joined us for the shoot. It’s in these in-between moments — the pride in the mother’s gentle smile, a grandfather’s embrace — that the true story shines through. Beyond the dresses and the occasion, it became a celebration of family, love, and the memories that will carry them into the next chapter of life.

And as always, I found myself drawn to black and white frames — where colour fades, but emotion lingers, timeless and unspoken.

💫 May this night always remind you, Zoë and Nina, that who you are is already more beautiful than any dream waiting ahead.

"Lost time is never found again." – Benjamin Franklin

Through the bare branches of winter, the clock tower keeps its silent watch — marking the hours, holding stories, and reminding us that even on grey days, beauty hides in the details.

“Drag is not a costume, it’s a crown—worn with pride, painted with courage, and served with sparkle.” 👑✨

Tollie Parton took Gansbaai by storm today!

Gansbaai was shook as the fabulous Tollie Parton lit up the stage at Panorama Wedding Venue—all in support of helping Alexa Collins chase her netball dream all the way to Dubai! 🏐✈️💪

Tollie joked that she doesn’t usually do charity gigs… but she knows exactly what it’s like to have a dream—and honey, we felt that. 💖

The show? Hilarious.
The dress? Sparkling.
The makeup? On. Point.
The laughs? Non-stop.

Big hair, big heart, big fun—and all for a beautiful cause.

Gansbaai, has never seen glitter fly quite like this!

🍂 Rivergate Autumn Market – A Comeback for the Books! 🍷🎶

After the previous market was cut short by rain, yesterday’s event more than made up for it! What a spectacular day — golden autumn sunshine, not a breath of wind, and a sky so clear it felt like it was cheering us on.

Vendors were tucked into every corner of the farm, each stall a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. From handmade crafts to artisan treats, the passion and creativity were on full display. It’s no wonder the market drew guests from near and far — this event truly is the talk of the season and one not to be missed.

We spent the day soaking up the last of the autumn sun, enjoying wine and cheese while live music drifted through the air — sax, keyboard, and guitar blending perfectly with the relaxed, joyful atmosphere.

Children laughed, families wandered, and I think the farm animals got spoiled with all the extra attention and treats too!

A heartfelt thank you to the organisers and vendors for another unforgettable day — this is the kind of event that feeds the soul… and the photo gallery 📸✨

Wine, Waves & a Long-Awaited Sip! 🍷🌊

Those who know me, know I LOVE wine. So, when Trevor DeRuisé Lost Boy Wines finally released his much-anticipated Marea Sea Sauvignon Blanc to the locals at Blue Goose Restaurant on Friday, 21 March 2025—I had to be there! 🍇✨

I've followed the story of this wine from day one, and let me tell you—it was worth the wait! This bold (and slightly crazy) winemaker aged his Sauvignon Blanc grapes in the ocean for 3 weeks, allowing the salt of the sea to intensify every flavour. The result? A wine unlike anything you've ever tasted. They braved the elements and tides to bring us a single barrel of pure magic, and what a privilege it was to experience it first hand!

And the night didn’t stop there—the food pairings were next level! Each bite was carefully curated to complement the complexity of the wines, making every sip and taste an unforgettable moment.

To the team of Blue Goose - the 5 course meal was extraordinary!
To Lost Boy Wines—cheers to pushing boundaries and making waves in the wine world! 🍷🌊🥂

Shoutout to the incredible Jane Bailey for stepping in as my second shooter at the recent Waters wedding!

Can you imagine? A 5H star photographer as MY assistant? 🤯In all honesty, Jane is ten times the photographer I am, yet she handled her role with such grace, never once making me feel inferior, or getting in the way (which is a real risk with 2nd shooters). Instead, she was my biggest confidence boost—while I was hyping up the couple, there was Jane, quietly cheering ME on from the shadows, carrying reflectors, offering support, and just being an absolute rockstar.

Having her in my corner was an honor. Thank you, Jane! ❤️📸
