Born and raised in KwaZulu Natal, living life like a gypsy is where it had all started; "by it all started" - I refer to the constant urge to see and discover more. As a child this constant life of always being on the move with my mum and sister was never by choice. However I don't regret a moment of it, as I was able to remember and collect amazing memories that were associated with the areas we had called home for a short period of time.

Darnall situated in iLembe District Municipality
Brings memories of the birth of my sister, as well as litchi and mulberry fruit picking during the season of spring.
but it also brings a reminder of the smell of sweet burnt sugar cane that would come from the sugar mill not so far from where we lived.
It was also during this period that I put my feet in the soft sand along the golden shores of the east coast and heard the crashing sounds of the ocean for the very first time at Tinley Manor Beach.

Bostan situated in the Mkhomazi and Elands River valley
brings memories of beautiful views of chilly winters that use to cover the valley in a sheet of snow and sleet, including my first memory of building a snowman with my little sister.

Pietermaritzburg is the capital and second-largest city in the province of KwaZulu-Natal
Although we moved from the country into the city I do recall never staying in one place for too long, but my fondest memories of living in PMB was the start of my schooling, all the friends I had made, the sound of the ice cream truck on weekends, and the lavender colour of the beautiful Jacaranda trees down West Street from Burger Street towards the Msunduzi River.

Table Mountain situated in the uMgungundlovu District Municipality
brings memories of the longest period of time that we had settled down and finally called home,
the memories made here go back to two brothers who became my best friends, Luxolo and Xolani Dlamini, it was because of these two friends that I grew an interest in building rafts for the dam, fishing and making wire 4x4 cars with coke tins for wheels which in turn would begin the start of racing our home made wire cars down the dirt roads, my interest for loving nature and learning scientific names for indigenous plant species started during this time as my mum was a flower nursery manager at that time. I remember walking through the Nursery tunnels asking the girls, pretty, Sylvia, Busalaphi, and Zanele to please help me learn the names of all the flowers, The girls became a special part of my life, they were like my mums guiding and mentoring me even though I did give them hard times being the inquisitive child I was chasing them with frogs and snakes. Although I had a hungry mind for knowledge, I did have a mischievous side that I'm sure everyone on the Farm we grew up on could relate too. Leaving the Farm Sunshine Seedling Services was heart-breaking and was a difficult time for my sister and I.

The list of places that I had moved to and lived and created memories in, is far too long to continue with, but it I must say it moulded me into the person I am today.

I would say that I am someone that is easily adaptable to traveling and acknowledging my surroundings, and that with traveling I am also someone who holds onto sentimental memories. It is for this reason that I pushed myself into a career studying Commercial Photography and graduating with top marks and awarded Cum-laude. Not only was this pursued career a way for me to capture and hold onto sentimental memories associated with the travelled places I had visited, but it was also an opportunity for me to share the same outlooks with others by providing my photography services to others who might also want special sentimental memories brought to life.

I hope to create a Btech portfolio, that helps me capture the day to day struggles women have to face. Helping empower women to speek out, seek help, and find lost cofindence, and what a better way to start this portfolio with Sonia Marques, who is one of the most inspiring people that I know. 20/10/2016
