The prodigal camera returns... my 35mm Minolta X-370n camera that had been hidden away and forgotten in a drawer or cupboard in Cape Town and MIA for the best part of 20 years, finally found its way back to me. My love for photography started with this camera, and with that, the meme on the mug holds true even more today. I sincerely wonder what is on that film - possibly photos taken at AAD Ysterplaat 23 & 24 September 2006? I witnessed the last retirement flight of the Shackleton 1722, and it was also the weekend that I watched the Sasol Tigers L-29 piloted by Martin van Straaten (RIP) crash in Table Bay from the balcony of my home in Blaauberg. Ironically, so many things "crashed" or came to an end that weekend - my good friend Jannie Visser also sort of bumped my C**t Club Cab (of course, I forgave him), reminding me that the week that followed was the very last time I set foot in that home!

Good morning... I have been considering terminating my Photography Page as I very rarely do any specific shots anymore. One can take just so many photos of roaming Bosbok, Cape Franklin, fauna & flora. etc. We also very rarely visit cycle races any more even though Linél Engelbrecht - Athlete who would be the main object of my photo shoots in 2025 when she starts competing select cycling races and sporting events again. As yet. I am undecided but will revisit this thought come January 2025

I have witnessed many young talented athletes rising, particularly in the cycling fraternity which I am closely associated with. I have borne witness to the tears, the pain, the glory, the elation, the accomplishments and humbleness in defeat & Victory! But I have also seen the nasty side, personality changes and traits I detest - ARROGANCE, ENTITLEMENT & DISRESPECT! So this morning I put pen to paper, sipped a cup of coffee and this is what emerged - "ARROGANCE and carrying a sense of ENTITLEMENT in Cycling (or any sport for that matter) is like carrying a heavy hydration pack full of past achievements... it may whoo spectators but it is that massive humbling pothole waiting for you over the next blind rise!" - John Boucher 13/02/2024

The Cape bushbuck (Tragelaphus sylvaticus), also known as imbabala is a common, medium-sized bushland-dwelling, and a widespread species of antelope in sub-Saharan Africa. It is found in many habitats, such as rainforests, montane forests, forest-savanna mosaic, savanna, bushveld, and woodland. It stands around 90 cm (35 in) at the shoulder and weighs 45 to 80 kg (99 to 176 lb). They are generally solitary, territorial browsers.

As a passion, I don't watermark my photos because it's just that - a passion. Let's face it, the photos I post aren't too shabby either and there is wide variety. I thus have a humble & courteous request when or if you use one of my photos in a social media post to give me the rightful & deserved credit. Really not a big ask. It helps other folk discover my photos and is then really a matter of share the love or experience. I am definitely not in competition with some of my friends that are contracted to capture events. I do have an agreement in place with Linél Engelbrecht - Athlete sponsor's in this that they can use my photos in all their brand marketing royalty free.Thank you folks...
