Green Parrot - Erasmia Centurion

Early this morning i had some Green Parrots visiting in Erasmia. There erre eight of them flying from one tree to the other and having fun.
Images taken with the Nikon Z8 and the Nikon Z180-600mm. Challenging conditions with cloud cover and direct sunlight.

Rietvlei Nature Reserve

Spend the day at Rietvlei amongst the little pink flowers and the animals at the reserve.
There were lots of Zebras amongst the flowers.
They were very play and led to some great action photos on the day.

I used the Nikon Z9 with the Nikon Z180-600mm F5.6-6.3 lens. The AF speed setting on the camera has been adjust to get the maximum speed of focus and combining it with the animal detection feature. You won't miss photographing the picture.

It was lots of fun and it is ideal for those who wants to improve there technique, camera settings and handling long zoom lenses.

Pilanesberg Nature Reserve

It was a beautiful and exciting outing we made to Pilanesberg. There were lots of Elephants roaming around the Nature Reserve. Lot of head shakes, throwing sand onto the bodies and don't forget the incredible splashing in the waters at one of the hides.
These Elephants had a bit of fun during our 1.5 hour stay with them at the hide. Lot of inter action amongst the younger elephants and splashing in the water. Cooling off under the 35 degree sunny weather.

Always keep a safe distance from Elephants at all times for your own safety.

I used the Nikon Z9 with the Nikon Z180-600mm F5.6-6.3 lens. It is very versatile for close up and long distance photography. Ideal for anyone looking for a powerful zoom lens for Wildlife and Birding. The overal lens performance is outstanding and the sharpness is insanely sharp.

Enjoy the pictures. There will be more to follow.

Whiskered Terns at Rietvlei Nature Reserve

They put on a beautiful show with some action between themselves. They are great for those who want to practice there shooting techniques and sertings. The weather had some spotted clouds on the day and the air was cooler.
The Nikon Z9 with the Nikon Z180-600mm is the ideal combination for these kind of pictures. You have the ability to zoom in very close or frame it the way you want by Photographing the perfect image.

Pilanesberg Nature Reserve - Impala

Pilanesberg is one of the most exctining places to visit for anyone interested in wildlife, birding and nature by itself. It has a lot to offer from a variety of animals and bird from big to small. What make Pilanesberg Nature Reserve spectacular is the drive around the park and the surprise you get when taking every turn.

These Impalas were on the top of one of the roads in Pilanesbarg (A small hill). The Impalas was amongst the Wildebees, Spring bok and Zebras. A massive storm was heading our way and we have to make our to the Pilanesberg community centre for shelter as the rains was extreme and continued for a while.

This is also a very good location for those who want to get into wildlife photography and start praticing woth there gear.

I use the Nikon Z9 with the Nikon Z180-600mm F5.6-6.3 lens.
I have installed the latest firmware with the added eye detection feature to single point. The images taken was with AF Area single point with animal detection activated.

Dramatic 2026 Lightning Storms

In Centurion we had an unpredictable storm on the 3rd of January. It was a combination whirling winds, fast moving clounds and a mixture of rain and hail. The dramatic thunder sounds racing through the clouds with lightning bolts being erratic, was spectacular.
The images was some of the captures as it was within 5km from where i was.
The gear used for these type of images are as follows. Nikon Z8 with Nikon Z28-75mm F2.8 lens on a smallrig tripod.

Pilanesberg Nature Reserve - Birds

Amazing action from the weavers. Images taken with the Pre-Release capture option on the Nikon Z8 combined with the Nikon Z180-600mm.
Late afternoon light with spotted clouds over the dam and hide. It is an amazing area to practice some of the built-in features the Nikon Z-Series cameras have to offer.

Baby Hippopotamus is having fun and being playful.
In the late afternoon at Pilanesburg Nature Reserve, there were many larger Hippopotamus, and amongst them were four smaller Hippopotamus.
Weather had some cloud cover as a storm.was busy rolling towards the hide. Quite a bit of a shadow over the water that makes for great exposure. Lkng lenses are generally what will be needed for animals and birds in the distance.

I use the Nikon Z8 with the Nikon Z180-600mm F5.6-6.3 lens. I used the FX-DX to add a 1.5x extender to the lens focal length, making it a 900 mm focal length.
