My style is minimal & artistic. I prefer using studio lights & a black or white backdrop but if you'd like to use another style, perhaps a documentary approach in a natural environment, like your home,
I'm open to suggestions. Location
We can shoot at my home studio near Panorama Mediclinic or at your own home in a pop-up studio that takes about 30 min to set up. Duration

I've been there. I am a mother who had the privilege to experience it. The unimaginable capacity of the body & mind. An experience I struggled to put into words. I wish I asked someone to capture it. It's worth capturing. BABY

Hi, I’m Marike — a photographer and retoucher.
Over the past 15 years, I’ve photographed everything from births and weddings to landscapes and food.
One part of photography I’ve always loved — the part many photographers dread — is the quiet craft of retouching. It reminds me of painting. It breathes life into flat images.
Lately, I’ve been shifting my focus to this side of the craft.
I now offer retouching services to photographers who want more depth, mood, or a subtle film-inspired quality in their work — whether it’s refining tones, guiding the eye, or adding emotion.

After weeks of planning our shoot, Maryke arrived at my home studio bright-eyed, with a suitcase filled with outfits, props, and many great ideas.

A few details on my maternity shoots...
Location: Maternity shoots can either take place at my home studio near Panorama Mediclinic or at your own home in a pop-up studio that takes about 30 min to set-up.
Duration: Depending on the type of images you want, the shoot usually lasts 45 – 120 minutes with much needed snack & drink breaks. The experience of the shoot is as important as the outcome of the images, so your comfort is key.

When I was 38 weeks pregnant, I wanted to capture this fleeting yet fascinating time in my life but I wanted to keep it minimal, elegant and artistic.
No evening gowns, no elaborate scenes, just a body, doing something barely conceivable.
