Born To Be Free - Lipizzaners at in

About 80 years ago a select few Lipizzaners were rescued from war-torn Europe and brought to South Africa. The current stallions are direct descendants of those horses and their predecessors. It was incredible to watch them but like all animals they should be free, not forced into captivity for man’s enjoyment. These stunning animals have been endangered numerous times thanks to humans and various wars over the past 500 years. It’s heartbreaking that animals suffer due To continued human conflict.

Snow in Stormberg peaks near in near the hamlet of

The hamlet of Rhodes is a beautifully scenic area which hosts one of South Africa’s most iconic trail runs in the month of July. An incredibly well organised 52km but definitely not for the faint hearted. These peaks are about 60km from Rhodes which I passed on the way back home from Rhodes .
