This event was open to everyone who could join in helping to spread awareness for craniosynostosis. Craniosynostosis is a condition where babies are born with parts of their skull fused together in certain areas. Because of this, they often need one or more surgeries—sometimes performed just 5 mm from the brain—to open the fused sections of the skull and give the brain the space it needs to grow and develop properly. This surgery is not optional. Without it, a baby may struggle to reach important developmental milestones because the brain does not have enough room to grow.
