"At the time I was laying in my hospital bed waiting and dreading the arrival of my son. I wanted the nightmare to be over. My nurse who was so sweet, kept telling me about this photographer who comes and takes pictures. I was extremely hesitant. It sounded strange, having another stranger see you at such a vulnerable time. No one ever thinks about capturing the most painful or difficult times in a person's life. "I see you, aching mama of a miscarried baby. The world never saw your belly grow. Maybe friends and family don't even know you were pregnant. Or maybe they know and act like it didn't mean anything. I see you, and the way you picture what could've been. What should've been. You don't know if it's okay to name your baby since you didn't know the gender. But a part of you feels like you do know.

I see you."

10 Things Bereaved Mothers Fear You’ll Think

"1. We fear you will think another baby or child, biological or adopted, will replace the one(s) we lost. A couple times after Elliot died, people said, “Don’t worry, you can have another one.” This is just not true. I won’t have more biological children, though we do hope to adopt one day. But many of my friends who can and do have a “rainbow baby” fear that people will think the new baby assuages the grief or replaces the child who has died. "

Infant loss is everywhere, regardless of race, or status. In this October month, we hope to create awareness of infant loss and shine the light on what we do here at NILMDTS....helping to create memories with heirloom style portrait sessions right there in your hospital room. Please contact us if you or someone you love requires our services...or tell the hospital that you would like us to come do a session for you...free of charge.
Photographers, we always need more volunteers...if you can help give your time to these families in your area, please get in touch with us. We have a complete training and vetting process to assist you as well.

John Legend and wife Chrissy Teigen lose their child.
