A glance, a ripple, a sudden burst of energy — and then calm again.

Moments like these remind me why I go out again and again:
not just to see wildlife, but to feel it.

Schwarzspecht (Dryocopus martius)

Der Schwarzspecht ist der größte Specht Europas und eine Schlüsselart unserer Wälder.
Mit seinem kräftigen Schnabel kann er selbst hartes Totholz aufbrechen, um an Ameisen und Käferlarven zu gelangen.

Seine Höhlen haben jedoch eine weit größere Bedeutung:
Nachdem der Schwarzspecht sie verlassen hat, werden sie von vielen anderen Arten genutzt – darunter Hohltauben, Fledermäuse, Waldkäuze oder Baummarder.

Damit schafft dieser beeindruckende Vogel Lebensraum für zahlreiche Waldbewohner.

Typisch ist auch sein weithin hörbares Trommeln, das besonders im Frühjahr zur Revierabgrenzung dient.

Ein kurzer Moment am Stamm – bevor er wieder im Wald verschwindet.

But in the air, everything changes.
Form replaces weight.

Ein Moment zwischen Realität und Märchen.
Die Burg leuchtet wie ein verborgenes Reich – einsam, erhoben, umhüllt von winterlicher Stille.
