The "Tasmiyyah', affectionately and more commonly known as the "Doepmaal" in the Cape Malay culture. It is the ceremony where a child is given their name, usually by an imaam, after which du'aa / prayers are made for the child and their parents.

It is always a privelege for me to witness and capture these ceremonies. It signifies a beginning to a child's life, and their path to finding who they are.
