Saw these absolutely amazing murals in Cincinnati! Did you know that the number of murals in Cincinnati has grown 20x since 2007? I’m always excited to see public art in every new city I visit.

So excited to be preparing a few prints of “UnPresidented” to ship to their new homes! This is an incredibly important (and timely) piece for me, and I’m excited to get these prints out just in time for the election.

I am so excited that I was able to participate in the artists’ panel at the official launch of UAP’s “Public Art in Review, Volume 1 (2019-2023),” and so proud that “In America: Remember” is featured in this publication among the work of 27 curators and 58 other artists and collectives.

When I started “In America” with my amazing group of volunteers, we knew that we would want to honor the 20,000 flags that were dedicated to individuals throughout the weeks it was on the National Mall through preservation. As we have continued this archival work, it has been incredible to learn that the impact and memories of “In America” can live on in this beautiful print format as well.

Thank you, UAP, for the painstaking detail you took in creating this publication, and for bringing many of us artists together to continue the conversations we started with our work. If you are interested in purchasing this collection yourself, follow the link in my bio to get your very own copy!

Polarization in America is changing the way we connect, especially with our friends and family. I am excited to announce a pilot support group for individuals affected by the political extremism of a loved one.

If you are struggling to connect with a loved one at a political extreme, this group is for you. Our team of experts is here to offer support, tools, and insight into reconnecting with your loved ones.

If you’re interested, please follow the link in my bio to sign up, or dm me with any questions.

The origin story of the white flags for in America: Remember.

Special recyclable film was manufactured to catch the light. At first, I wanted biodegradable film, but inevitably, I wanted the dedicated flags to live on.

Blackburn Manufacturing Company was an incredible partner by manufacturing over 700k flags in just a few days. Three different states housed the material/flags before they arrived at the National Mall at dawn.

Next: Planting the flags.

Taking you behind the scenes… It has been one year since an amazing team of folks helped me blanket the with white flags to honor those who had died of COVID. To remember all those lost, to honor those remaining, and to recognize my team, over the next few days I will take you behind the scenes.

Today: How we conceptualized the layout. After receiving the green light from the National Park Service, I walked the site in March of 2021. Next, I gave a rough sketch to landscape designer, Laurie Shoemaker, of Ruppert Landscape. She spent days (and one all-nighter) creating a layout that would accommodate all the flags. (I estimated a max of 630,000 flags. I was so wrong.) After the flag design was set, we sited signage, benches, and reception stations.

Next: How to get all those flags planted in three days…

A year ago today we transformed the into a national place of mourning. The Trust and the provided us a beautiful, reverent space in which to honor each person who had died of COVID. That sea of white flags fluttered for just 17 days, but will remain a vivid image, one that honors the continuing losses. Thank you, thank you to the 1,000 volunteers and the supporters who helped bring this art to our nation! We will remember.
