I am officially announcing that I have quit professional photography. It wasn't really a hard choice at the end, but it's been brewing for some time now.
At some point I'll pick up a camera again and enjoy photographing the world around me. But, for now I'm sticking to my phone and photographing things like my kids on a mountain top, selfies with folks I adore the most, or random s**t I find myself around... like any other social media user.
THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me over the past twelve years in all the ways humans support other humans. You've all been inspiring and kind and just beautiful. I love that so much.
From the highly saturated, poorly composed, free photo sessions of my first year, to the holiday minis with and without Santa, to the Not Back to School sessions for my homeschool community, to raising money for the food pantry during the start of the pandemic through the Front Steps Project to the countless seniors and families and weddings and babies I've photographed through the years. So much love for you all.
There's a bazillion photographers out there. You'll all find one you love to support.

Played in the rain with this high school senior yesterday. The rain was definitely a whole vibe. Colorado will love you as much as you'll love it. Your flowy artist soul will thrive. And definitely hit those slopes!

As I pare back my own portrait availability I'm often asked "well, who would you recommend?"

Here you go for those photographers -

Jamie Bates of Wicked Depiction Photography. Jamie's art is super niche. You'll love her and what you create together. She grew up in Uxbridge, traveled, and came back to raise her family. Her business is located in Uxbridge at A Touch of Magick.

Antone Botelho Photography is relatively new to the area but he's been around for a little bit as he has a child in the school system. I met him while he was volunteering at Taft years ago. His photography is classic and timeless.

Joseph Gonzalez-Dufresne Photography - Based out of Worcester. For your wedding needs I would always choose Joe GD first. I've known him for forever and his wedding style jives with what I love.

Michele Ashley Bo***ir is my go-to recommendation for bo***ir. She does the "dark and moody" style well. She's the kindest human and she has the biggest heart. She's based out of Worcester and her studio is gorgeous.

Senior sessions are coming in hot and I'm super excited to be photographing so many pretty rad humans this year. Remember... when choosing a location and wardrobe for your session... just be true to who you are. Incorporate pieces of your life, things you love. I get asked this question a lot. Don't overthink it.
I've known all of these humans for over a decade. They are truly some of the best humans. Class of 2024... You're amazing!!!
Lots of love,

This year's Memorial Day parade was a little different. It held a special place in the hearts of those in town who served or who lost someone who has served this country in the military. From the presence of the Army Band to the rededication of the 1918 German cannon on the common to the tribute to....

This is Six.
What's better than an epic battle with an alligator in your living room where sometimes you win and sometimes the 'gator wins? Also, sometimes six-year-olds mock you and pretend to take photos of you taking photos of them.

Happy Spring!

I know it's been super quiet here. In December I closed my studio. Then I decided that I really wasn't feeling being a portrait photographer any more. I found myself saying no to inquiries, which meant that it was time for me to take a hiatus. I LOVE photography, but right now I want to be really present and available for my teens and truly focus on the art of photography. I will be honoring commitments I have made for upcoming weddings and gift certificates won or given, of course. I still will be photographing for those things I really want to photograph - organizations I adore, families I love wholly, and of course, for my fellow homeschool folks in the fall. Otherwise, I will be shooting a lot of 35mm and 120mm film. I love slowing down and testing out cameras to see if they work. I love being super intentional with my photographs because I only get 12, 24, or 36 chances to get them right. I'm also planning out a photography class for kids next year and I'm a little excited about that. Back in 2020, before the world went wonky, I was slated to teach film photography to my students and we never got to do that. I'm back teaching (film studies this year) and next fall is going to be super fun.

I struggled with running a business and being an artist who is super philanthropic. I'm definitely not business savvy. I totally just want to do my thing, be creative, and hope some folks can see the beauty that I see...especially if they didn't before.

As always, thanks for supporting me and my art. Thanks for hanging out and paying attention. I value all of you, truly.

Still hang around. I'll still be posting. For now, it'll be grainy black and whites created with vintage cameras on 35mm film.

With love,
erica

I photographed some promo shots for The Blissful Tea Party's Mother's Day Tea Party at The Zadock House c.1780 on May 14th. It's going to be the cutest thing ever, complete with complementary portraits, take-home bouquets, baked yumminess, finger sandwiches, Prosecco...and of course tea!

This week's blog post features one of my favorite businesses in town - Deborah Russo Kennedy's A Touch of Magick. Highlighted along with it are Jamie Bates' Wicked Depiction Photography and Johanna Mancuso's Arborvitae Botanicals.
Debi supported my photography business in 2018 and provided me with an opportunity to have a studio space. The gratitude I have for her and that opportunity is unparalleled.
We've all come a long way from where we were six years ago. It's been a crazy beautiful journey.
See how it's all changed...

Have you ever walked into a room and felt the energy shift? Or have you been in a room and could literally feel the energy change when someone else entered, before you even saw them walk in? Have you ever been asleep and your eyes pop open because you can literally feel your toddler staring at you a...

Years ago I started documenting the town. It was short-lived but I aim to start up again. I started a blog on wordpress and I didn't like the format. I have moved it over to another hosting platform and the new site is www.uxbridgema.org
It's all the same words in my previous blog... cut and paste are fantastic tools. There may be extra photos because I can host more on the new site so I didn't need to be discriminatory regarding numbers.
I have some ideas for people and places I'd like to photograph next but it's going to be something that's completely fluid because life is crazy and this is a total hobby. 🤍

Small town charm. Big time love. Through the eyes of a townie... 1980 brought me to town. 1987 brought me my first camera. 1991 brought me my first journal. A lifetime of practicing telling stories. Welcome to the way I see this speck on the globe. I started this blog in 2017 and it was hosted on a....
