I don’t really know how to put into words how life giving this day was for me, with Nicole & TJ. If any potential couple out considering me as their wedding photographer & wondering why I offer a day after shoot, which is never directly the day after the wedding lol, this shoot would be a perfect example of why I love them so much. Adventuring to places outside the city & hanging out in some seriously beautiful places. We had the most ridiculous weather on this day. I think the only weather missing from this shoot was snow lol. We had sun, clouds, wild wind, a short downpour & an incredible sunset to cap the evening. These two didn’t hesitate for a second, they welcomed every weather change we were given. The shoot was pretty much finished when I told them we had to hang around on the cliffs for a few more minutes because when the sun comes down past the clouds we may get a sweet sunset & hot dang, it didn’t disappoint.

What can I say, I’ve been envisioning a couple on this trestle for the past couple years now, once I found out about it. Pitched this spot to Jill & Cody, thinking this could be a bit of a long shot because it was going to be a rather large time commitment on their part but they responded, saying they’d be down for it. My relationship with them was put to the test right away, as the three of us had to cut the trail back for about 20-30 minutes before we could even start the shoot so that we could drive right to the bridge. While clearing the trail I had thoughts of “Well, this will only cement a bond between them & me or it’s going to make for a very awkward working relationship until after the wedding!” 😆 Thankfully they were totally up for whatever we needed to do so that we could drive the whole way. This photo is just another reminder of my great love for the couples I get to work with & to be able to take couples on grand adventures for hours into the backcountry.

This shoot came together so well. I had a riot with Riley & Sarah. I’ve known Sarah for years & she’s another local photographer, with a huge heart for film. I was so honoured when she reached out about photographing their wedding. With a ridiculously fun afternoon, creating more memories on Sarah childhood property, I’m even more fired up for the wedding there this summer!

I love when a photo comes together that I had been envisioning in my head for hours. I had an idea for sundown out in her back field. This photo was a team effort. I love that it's on their property, that earlier in the day I had Dan grab a bale with their John Deere tractor to prep for this moment while the day was still pretty calm & relaxed, along with Dan & Amanda's willingness to trust the process lol. Side note, the city kid in me was so stoked to be able to ride on the tractor. I don't know what it is but I've always had this deep love for tractors. So, I was stoked when Dan offered me the chance to ride with him as we prepped the shot.

Had an absolutely wonderful time with these two this past week. Lia had the idea of doing the shoot out at High Falls & without a doubt, I was 1000% in for that! Adventuring with my couples for hours out in nature is truly one of my greatest joys as a photographer.
