It seems silly that I live in Corpus and keep vacationing to other beaches. But I can’t stop/won’t stop. I wish I could tell you what it is about the slow coastal days that pulls at something deep in my guts. If I could, maybe I could find a way to loose the grip. Until then I’ll keep walking the shores. Keep collecting shells. Keep sitting on docks and rocks and warm sand. Keep thinking about our days in South Carolina. The mornings were cool and afternoons were hot just like the frozen gin and tonics and hot honey chicken at I even convinced Aaron to try the oysters. 10/10. I was also taken aback by the historic architecture, vibrant paint colors, intentional design of new buildings to complement the old. It’s like they have learned to cherish the beautiful parts of its past and celebrate the future hand in hand. What a way to live. Speaking of, I’d like to…live there. 😎

Straight out of the airport, we hit the streets of Ha Noi. Maybe a little carsick. The traffic movement is on a whole ‘nother level. While I didn’t understand the rhythm and flow, they did. Pros, I tell you.

You wouldn’t believe the rain and thunder rolling in. Naturally, because we planned to camp in the Grand Canyon. We pulled into Williams, Arizona for gas on Rt 66 and we were taken to a sweeter time. Neon signs, classic cars, dinners lined the streets and pine trees stood guard around the town. People meandered the streets perusing the shops and cafes. Everything the town was drew us in. How unexpected. “Let’s just stay here a night.” ❤️

Never in my life would I have imagined that I’d live in the desert. Or that I would love it as dearly as I do. Growing up on the coast (lush, green and uncomfortably humid) the desert was an alien planet. A planet I now adore. Give me all the dry air and cacti and my desert friends. The Lord knows what he’s doing and I thank him for calling me to the desert (the physical one and the spiritual one) as often as I remember it. I’m also thankful that the desert is never meant to be forever. As I take what I learned from the desert and move ever closer to the green pastures and still waters my heart is content for the journey.

Las Vegas is beautiful city of duality. I don’t know much; we only visited such a short while. In that short time we saw Bright lights and tall buildings. Magnificent sunsets and mountains. Depravity and brokenness. Life and Joy. So much fun and so much sorrow. Much like many other cities. Maybe it’s just that the good is so grand that the bad seems the way it does merely by contrast. And maybe not.

I don’t know their story. I don’t know they’re names. I can assume their Italian since this was at the Duomo and because look at them. 😍 What I do know is that when they caught my eye and allowed me to click my shutter they were going to be with me forever. Captured in my memory. Forever wondering what their life is. Wouldn’t that be wild if social media allowed our paths to cross once more? Or is the mystery 98% of the intrigue? I mean. Look at those eyes.

We drove winding through the trees, me unaware of what was beyond them. As we walked through the lot the earth opened up beside us. We stood at the precipice dwarfed by the grandness of it all. Unable to take in everything before us, we stood still in the cool, autumn breeze and just were. In that moment I was acutely aware of how much I underestimate The Creator and am very loved by him anyway. Wooing me with His unmatched creation.
