Headshots at the SULSA IndAc25 Conference 👩‍🔬📸
Last month I photographed 90 headshots in a day at SULSA’s IndAc Conference— students, academics, exhibitors and university staff.
There was a great buzz in the queue, and the feedback was fab. It’s amazing how good a headshot you can get in 3 minutes!
For early-career researchers and students, getting a professional headshot can be expensive or simply not something they’d know where to go for.
Offering headshots at an event removes all those barriers and gives people something genuinely useful to take away—from LinkedIn profiles to university bios and conference programmes.
If you’re running a careers-focused event or conference, this is a fantastic way to add value and make your event stand out. Of course, I’d love to see more organisers doing it 😉

What a pleasure photographing the wonderful Lorraine Kelly last week at the opening of The John Cunningham Creative Centre in Lanark.

Warm, engaging, and endlessly professional, Lorraine connected effortlessly with everyone she met — from the Border Biscuits staff to the community members at Clydesdale Community Initiative.

A big thank you to Lynne Hughes and Laura Balloch MacKinnon , and Jamie Slattery, Lorraine’s agent, for making it such a seamless and enjoyable morning.

Last week I posted a few pictures from a trip to Assynt. Here are some I took 20 years earlier back in October 2005 when I was working for The Times. The light and drama never changes!
We were covering a story about the formation of the The Assynt Foundation which was established for the 2005 community buyout of the Glencanisp and Drumrunie Estates. The idea was to manage the land for the benefit of the local community, create employment, and protect the area's environment and heritage. It was an early example of Scotland's community land ownership provisions under the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003.
Sadly, Glencanisp Lodge closed in 2019 and nearly brought the foundation to insolvency but partnerships with the Woodland Trust and Original Hotels has given it a shot at long-term financial stability and the ability to pursue its environmental and community objectives for the future.

A lovely day spent photographing the Highland Cows with their gorgeous young calves and some interiors of the new Pantry.

I was commissioned to photograph this new East Renfrewshire country home for Thomas Robinson Architects and they won the Best Luxury Home Herald Property Awards for Scotland 2025.
I visited at different times of day to see how the light revealed new aspects of the design — morning textures, shimmering reflections across the lochan, and warm evening tones that brought the place to life.
Projects like this are so satisfying: observing, slowing down, and waiting for the light to bring out the best in the architecture.
Thrilled to see this remarkable home get the recognition it deserves.
