Grandpa Ken ✨
On July 6, 2026 my Grandfather took his last few breaths with my dad by his side.
Describing my grandfather’s incredible strength is nearly impossible—you had to know him to truly understand. He lived life entirely on his own terms, never letting age, health challenges, or even the loss of eyesight out of his left eye stop him from doing what he loved. His resilience was quiet but unwavering. Every single day, he chose to live and refused to let obstacles stand in his way.
I never knew my mom’s parents, so my dad’s parents were the only grandparents I’ve ever known. I always smiled when my friends talked about their grandfathers spending hours in a recliner watching golf. Grandpa Ken loved golf and hockey, but he was never one to sit still for long. He was always out fishing, golfing, playing hockey, or working in the yard. He showed us that a life well lived is one spent doing what you enjoy.
While my brother inherited Grandpa Ken’s love of fishing, I found my own connection with him through photography. This past week, I’ve spent hours looking through the photographs he took throughout his life. Holding those images has brought me comfort and made me feel close to him, allowing me to see the world through his eyes. It’s a gift I will always cherish.
My grandfather was the pillar of our family. He lived with grace, quiet strength, and an appreciation for life’s simple moments. He also gave me one of the greatest gifts I could ever receive—my dad, the best father in the world. Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the unshakable bond between father and son.
Thank you, Grandpa Ken, not only for being the heart of our family, but for showing all of us what it means to live with determination, resilience, love, and unwavering loyalty.
I love you ❤️
Love,
Your granddaughter
