Robin Zachary, Creative Director and Stylist, and author of STYLING BEYOND INSTAGRAM

Robin Zachary is a New York City based Bridal and Tabletop Stylist, Teacher, Editor and former Creative Director of Bridal Guide Magazine where she art directed and styled hundreds of photoshoots. A self-proclaimed vintage ju**ie, she can't resist pulling over to peruse a tag sale or thrift shop in any town she passes through hoping to spot her next great prop. She's a regular attendee of Bridal Fashion Week and the New York Tabletop Market and is the Contributing Home Editor for Bridal Guide Magazine. Her clients include: Weddings by the Ritz Carlton Magazine, Modern Luxury Brides and MacKenzie-Childs. She has been a styling teacher on the faculty of New York's Fashion Institute of Technology for 8 years and happily says "consulting and teaching are some of my most rewarding experiences to date."

I'm still on the fence about reels. A still photo will always be first in my heart, so in case I decide to pull that last one down, here's the photo that should be here. If Instagram wants to make this platform all video than maybe we artists will need to find another one for our creative outlet. Anyway, today is a gorgeous day in New York City and I've added some pieces to my glassware collection from my favorite stores. Rather than spring cleaning I've been Spring shopping. Can you relate?

There's a floral theme throughout my book, STYLING BEYOND INSTAGRAM because flowers appear everywhere in my prop styling work, whether it's a cosmetics, food, lifestyle and especially a tabletop shoot. Flowers bring me great joy in any project I'm working on, doesn't matter if they're real, dried or printed as long as they're the right choice for the shot. I've had these Botanical prints for a while and thought they would make a great floral backdrop for these gorgeous ceramic dishes by and handmade flower by Implied flowers are just as beautiful as real flowers if you ask me. What do you think?

Happy Pesach, Happy Easter, happy spring! Whatever you celebrate I hope you have a joyous, peony-filled day! I'll be dialing in from the west coast this week. The change of scenery will do wonders for me I'm sure!

This week I received a big surprise! A box with a bottle of wine, an advance copy of my book and a nice letter from my publisher. It caught me off guard and is so surreal. And the next surprise was that the title is debossed and looks so good over the gorgeous cover shot by
I'm not used to having my dreams come true without working my butt off for them. This was no exception. So I doubt that little me, seen on the next shot would have believed that it could really happen. I'm overwhelmed and grateful for all the DMs I received. I wish little me could have read these.
Being from the magazine world, I never had any connections in the book world. And I've been trying to put this out for years until I met the generous So I hope I did it right by you guys. I'm excited to have you read all the first person stories and read all the useful tidbits of information about the Prop styling biz.
An outstretched hand is what we all need and I hope to give that back to you. The book launches on June 14th and is on pre-order now!

Hello! I'm popping in to let you know that since my book launch is approaching, I'm going to be running the class that inspired it all 2 times this week! STYLING BEYOND INSTAGRAM, "the class" is a free live class on zoom that will be an overview of the styling business and will preview some of what's inside the book including gorgeous photos by and spotlights of some wonderful stylists who made the career a reality. Happy Spring! I thought this day would never come!

I spoke to a group of students at the Fashion Institute of Technology last night about my fashion styling and art direction days. They were particularly interested in hearing about logistics. How long does it take to plan a shoot? How long is the shoot day? Whose decision is it to direct certain aspects of the shoots? Who picked the dresses? In talking through the whole process of both jobs that I've had, Creative Director and Stylist, I had a chance to relive those busy, intense times. I loved it when it all clicked. The models, the location, the photographer, the makeup, the hair...You can still see the fashion work in my portfolio at Robinzachary.com. I'm happy for the time I had in that space, and fashion still inspires my current work, but prop styling is where my heart has been for a long while now.

My month of self care continues. Stepping away from work and the pressures of writing and creating is proving to be beneficial. I am booked for the last two weeks of February for a raw food and juice cleanse at OHI in San Diego and I can't wait. If you haven't done a health retreat before, I highly recommend it. Stepping away from your regular life to be a little self-centered is ok. Coffee and treats like this will be replaced by green juice and raw vegetables. Yum! By the time I get back I'll be invigorated and ready for early spring, getting back to business teaching styling classes and preparing for my book launch.
Have you gone on a retreat before? Please share what it has done for you. I dream of taking people away with me on a creative and health retreat of my own someday. Just putting that out into the universe!

Hey friends! My book is finally at the printer so me and the hubby left on a spa getaway to celebrate. My OUT OF OFFICE sign is on my door. I'll be the blob of jelly in the hot tub. When we return I'll begin putting my life back together and tell you all about it! It has been a crazy, all-consuming ride for the past 5 months. Tell me, what's new with you?
