🖤🍕 THE FOOD FIGHT THAT GOT NIRVANA KICKED OUT OF THEIR OWN ALBUM RELEASE PARTY.
On September 13, 1991, just eleven days before the release of Nevermind, Geffen Records hosted a private party at Re-Bar in Seattle to celebrate what would soon become one of the most influential albums in rock history.
What was supposed to be an elegant gathering of record executives, journalists, and industry guests quickly turned into one of the most unforgettable stories in Nirvana's history.
Far from feeling comfortable in the corporate atmosphere, Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl began joking around. According to those who were there, it all started when the catering stopped staying on the plates... and started flying across the room.
🥚 Hard boiled eggs, guacamole, hummus, and appetizers soon became projectiles as the band and several friends launched into a full-scale food fight. Within minutes, the walls, furniture, and even some of the guests were covered in food.
The situation quickly got out of hand, and security stepped in. Despite being the guests of honor, Nirvana and their friends were escorted out of the venue.
But instead of ruining the night, it only made it more memorable. The band continued celebrating outside, laughing together and enjoying the evening on their own terms far way from corporate expectations and formalities.
🖤 For many fans, this story perfectly captures the spirit of Nirvana: a band that never felt at home in the corporate music world and always preferred to stay true to themselves rather than play the role of polished rock stars.
