The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) has charged one of its own officers with impaired driving-related offences following an off-duty incident on October 10, 2026.

Officials say 25-year-old Constable Clay BERREA has been charged with:

* Operation while impaired.
* Operation while having a blood alcohol concentration equal to or exceeding 80 mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood.

The charges fall under sections 320.14(1)(a) and 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Const. Berrea remains on active duty but has been reassigned to administrative duties and is not currently serving in a frontline patrol capacity.

The OPS says it holds all officers to a high standard of conduct, both on and off duty, and expects their actions to reflect the trust and values of the community they serve.
