So much of family life happens in between the pictures we think we're taking. A hand reached for, a familiar expression, all the little ways your littles fit together right now. There's a whole family story in those moments. And no two families do any of it quite the same way.

Before the guests arrive.

There are weeks of planning behind a room that will exist this way for only a few hours. Flowers chosen, tables set, lights hung, colors considered, a hundred small decisions made with care — all to create a place where people can come together.

I’ve learned to look for those details because two incredible women gave me the chance to. Both opened doors for me when I was still finding my way into event photography. They trusted me to photograph what they had spent weeks imagining and building — and, in doing so, helped me see what I wanted this work to be.

I photograph the people, of course. The embraces, the laughter, the reunions, the moments no one could have planned.

But I also want to remember what was made for them.

Because before a celebration becomes a memory, someone cared enough to create the place where it could happen.

The instant gravity disappears.

As the chair goes up.

Before the wave.

Before the cheering.

Before anyone remembers there's a camera.

Those first expressions last less than a second—and somehow they're different every single time.

These are my favorite moments to photograph.

Every fall, Connecticut reminds me to slow down.

The light changes. The air changes. Children seem to spend a little more time exploring and a little less time rushing. Routines change.

It's a season that quietly reminds us how quickly childhood moves, too.

Looking forward to another season of photographing families in one of the most beautiful times of year.

When people think about event photography, they often think about speeches, awards, and posed photos.

But the moments I'm always drawn to happen in between.

A conversation that lingers a little longer. Friends finding each other across the room. The details that someone spent months choosing. The feeling of a room filled with people who care deeply about the same place.

It was a privilege to photograph this year's Ezra Academy Gala—an evening honoring those who have shaped the school, celebrating new leadership, and bringing together so many familiar faces.

Thank you for trusting me to preserve a small piece of your story.

Childhood doesn't wait for anyone.

While speeches were being made and conversations carried on around the pool, these kids had only one thing on their minds.
