Civil War Home
I have known about this place for several years, but today I finally got permission to photograph it.
This home was originally built somewhere between 1760-1780 and was added onto over the years. After Sherman's troops burned Columbia they passed right through this area. They actually camped on this property. At this time, they always burned all houses they came across. This particular home was set to fire, but once they got up the road a little they noticed there was no smoke. They sent some back to finish the job, and again a second time it was set to fire, and this time was put out. This is the only reason why this house still stands today. I promised not to give any location info on this one as not very many people know about it.
