Kiri Vehera is one of the most sacred Buddhist stupas in Sri Lanka, located near the holy city of Kataragama. Believed to have been built over 2,000 years ago, it is closely connected with the history of Buddhism and is said to have been visited by Lord Buddha during his third visit to Sri Lanka according to local traditions.
The stupa is known for its pure white appearance and peaceful surroundings, attracting thousands of Buddhist pilgrims and visitors every year. Kiri Vehera is also an important part of the Kataragama sacred area, where people of different religions come together for worship and spiritual activities.
