Highlighting the talented photographers who play such a vital role in our music and art communities.

Our first, Behind the Lens features Nicole Holaway of Glow N Photography

From capturing the energy of a live performance to documenting the artists, vendors, festivals, venues, and people who bring our creative communities together, photographers preserve the moments, personalities, and stories that might otherwise go unseen.

This feature is dedicated to the people behind the cameras, whose passion, creativity, and eye for the moment help document the stories of our music and art communities.

I first met Nicole back in July during Under The Stars Music Festival at Astral Valley. Her name and that of her business, Glow N Photography, had actually come up in several conversations before we ever met.

What I found was a photographer who exemplifies exactly what I want BC Underground to document and highlight.

Nicole offers a wide range of photography services, from weddings and engagement sessions to family portraits, product photography, events, and festivals.

Naturally, what caught my eye was her festival and music photography.
Shooting events like these takes a hell of a lot more than skill behind a camera. It takes passion, dedication, and a genuine appreciation for the communities that make up our music and festival scenes.

Photographers like Nicole help preserve the memories, capture the atmosphere, and tell the stories of these incredible gatherings.

Flashback to not too long ago.. The Kirbys performed Voices Carry at a joint venture we had ETX-Live "Women In East Texas Music" Recorded live at the Big Sandy Music Hall I love these two amazing people... Both are incredible musicians and run a music school, located in Big Sandy Tx. Helping to keep music alive and available to the masses.

Halloween is my favorite holiday! Three years ago we got to work with my family of friends Clint & The Cosmic Wake . Producing a couple of Halloween videos. Devils Of Significant Size ... an original written by April Echols was to me the highlight of the shoot. Love this song.. and this amazing group of musicians.

VENUE OF THE MONTH
Deep Ellum Art Company located in Dallas, Texas

Deep Ellum has gone through several changes in the last decade, but one thing that has become a constant in the neighborhood is Deep Ellum Art Co.

Opened in 2017 by John and Kari LaRue, Deep Ellum Art Co. is located at 3200 Commerce Street in Dallas, Texas.

At first glance, this unassuming location might look like just another music venue, but there's a lot more going on here. It serves as an art gallery, has a full bar, and offers both indoor and outdoor spaces where artists, musicians, and vendors can come together to create, showcase their work, and interact with their audiences.

I've had the pleasure of working two Pancakes & Booze Art Shows here, along with several music events, and I've enjoyed every one of them. I appreciate the atmosphere John and Kari have created and the opportunities they provide for so many different creatives.

Deep Ellum Art Co. is definitely a place where community comes together, connections are made, and creativity has room to grow.

A venue doesn't have to be just a stage. Sometimes, it can be a gathering place for an entire creative community. And the Deep Ellum Art Co. provides just that. If you are familiar with them you know… If not, check them out, and help support them.
