Something I still struggle to make sense of as a creative:
People will pay for venues, decorations, sound systems, catering, accommodation, and equipment without hesitation because they understand the value these services bring.
But when it comes to photography and videography, suddenly the conversation becomes, "Can you do it for exposure?" or "It will be good for your portfolio."
What many don't realize is that media is one of the few investments that continues to create value long after the event is over.
The venue gets packed away. The food gets eaten. The decorations come down. But photos and videos continue telling the story, promoting the brand, attracting new customers, inspiring supporters, raising funds, and generating income for years to come.
Businesses, organizations, ministries, and brands often grow because of strong visual storytelling.
As creatives, we don't just take photos. We create assets that people use to build influence, trust, and revenue.
I love serving and will always choose to volunteer where I feel called. But I believe media professionals deserve the same respect and value given to every other professional involved.
Respect the craft. Respect the time. Respect the investment. Respect the people behind the camera.
