Ho Chi Minh in France, 1919 – Advocating for Vietnamese Independence
In 1919, Nguyen Ai Quoc—who would later be known as Ho Chi Minh—was in France, actively advocating for Vietnam's independence from French colonial rule. As a young revolutionary, he submitted the Petition of the Annamese People to the Versailles Peace Conference, hoping to gain support for Vietnam’s self-determination.
Despite being largely ignored by world leaders, this moment marked a pivotal step in his lifelong struggle for national liberation. It was in France that he became deeply influenced by socialist and communist ideologies, which would later shape his leadership in Vietnam’s independence movement.
