Asian Adventure Diaries - Part 12 - Ninh Binh/Tam Coc🌾🇻🇳

Of all the places we visited in Vietnam, I think this is the one place I’d go back to in a heartbeat. Not even to do any more of the tourist attractions, just cycling through the countryside and rice paddies was magic 🪷🌾

A restful couple of days at Son Tra Resort and Spa in Da Nang, and on a night train snaking up to the north of Vietnam. The best was really yet to come 🥹

🌏 Asian Adventure Diaries - Part 9 🇻🇳

📍 Ho Chi Minh City / Saigon

A final day exploring HCMC 🗺️

☕️ Breakfast at the Cafe Apartments - we went to Meraki because we could spot it easily and was only up 3 flights of stairs 🤪 You can get a lift up for a small fee, which most cafes refund for you. But we couldn’t be bothered waiting in the queue for it 🛗

📩 Wandered from there round to Saigon Central Post Office where there’s loads of baskets of postcards to flick through. However, I’m sure this is a much more leisurely task if it’s not 30°C, humid AF and busy AF. Pro tip - get your stamps on the postcards before you write them. Turns out they needed 3 each 🫠

🚁 An afternoon at the War Remnants museum which was sooo good. I usually get a bit bored half way round a museum, soz not soz. But I genuinely really enjoyed this whole place. Occasional exhibition rooms have AC too 😎

✈️ A 7-Eleven pre airport toastie before a verrry bumpy flight up to Da Nang. Hoi An lets gooooo 🏮🌅🪭

🌏 Asian Adventure Diaries - Part 8 🇻🇳

📍 Mekong Delta

An early start for a trip down to the Mekong Delta with 😃

A day of markets, boat rides, fruit picking, traditional music, coconuts, spring rolls and scooters 🛵🥟🥥

🍴For dinner we wandered into a random restaurant that was kind of empty and hoped for the best? Anyway, we ended up in “The 1 Restaurant” which is rated 4.9 on Google and served the tastiest tofu ever. Follow your nose, people !!

🍺 And where else would we finish our night if not for .view.rooftop.bar ? Couldn’t resist another drink up here, before spending some time back down in the chaos before heading for a well earned sleep 💭 this travel nonsense is tiring, eh!?

🌏 Asian Adventure Diaries - Part 7 🇻🇳

📍 Ho Chi Minh City / Saigon

Said goodbye to wonderful Seoul and hopped over the South China Sea to Vietnam ✈️👋

🏨 Jan Hostel Central Point - super convenient location for a few nights in the city, just a couple streets back from Bui Vien Street. Could definitely hear the music when falling asleep, but we were so exhausted this really wasn’t a problem.

🏪 A quick nip round the corner to 7-Eleven for supplies, which included my first of many toasties

🍺 Drinks at .view.rooftop.bar. Great views looking over the city and you can watch the madness of Bui Vien Street below.

🍴Harry’s first pho and one of my fave tofu dinners to date - Nông Thôn Đại Việt - The Rice Restaurant. Unreal food, but not the one if you want a quiet, peaceful or romantic dinner 🤣🕺🪩

😴 and then off to bed after a long travel day, alarms set early for the Mekong Delta in the morning ⏰

🌏 Asian Adventure Diaries - Part 6 🇰🇷

🥐 our last Le Pain Asser

🛍️ shopping on Insadong St

🏞️ a walk along Cheonggyecheon Stream

📚 a look round Starfield Library and Coex Mall

🕺 cutting shapes at the Gangnam Style sculpture (iconic 🤪)

⚾️ ending the day with an evening of beers (and confusion, on my part) watching the baseball at Jamsil Stadium

The best few days in South Korea made even more special being hosted by family. We loved Seoul and can’t wait to one day come back and see the rest of Korea ♥️👋🇰🇷

🌏 Asian Adventure Diaries - Part 5 🇰🇷

☕️ A visit to Cafe Onion which was big cool vibes, but we were so full of French bakery we could only manage drinks. (I didn’t like mine but conveniently loved Harry’s so we had to swap… 🤠)

🌲 A wander round Seoul Forest, cooling off in the mist and the shade before heading down to the river.

🛍️ Seoul has some GREAT shopping. Even H was happy… a whole department store floor of golf stuff!? Excellent news ✌️

🪭 Bought some fans, we became their biggest fans ☺️

🚠 Cable car up to N Seoul Tower for sunset. Such stunning views that we decided not to bother waiting in the queue to go up the actual tower.

🍴 Back to the food market for dinner where I ate cheese in multiple forms, what’s not not love? Didn’t get caught in any protests either…

🍺 And ended the night with beer flights in Artmonster which was, once again, big big vibes.
