Ilhom xahar joħduli moħħi,
‘qas ħallewli enerġija,
xemgħa u wegħda wara l-oħra,
qed inħoss rasi ddur bija.

Spiċċajt nitlob lil ta' fuqi,
forsi b'xi mod jilluminani,
jgħidli lil min se nivvota,
lil dak li mhux se jiżlugani.

Lil dak li se jagħtini x-xita,
forsi tikber il-foresta,
il-ħanżir xeba' Ta’ Qali,
hemm m'għandux fejn jagħmel festa.

Nitlobkom ieqfu itolbuni,
lanqas xagħra ma baqagħli,
tistgħu tgħidu sirt patrun
tal-kampanja elettorali.

Nobody tells you how lonely it is to become a creature who cannot relax. So, I learned to build a cathedral out of small humiliations, right here on a porcelain throne.

The world calls us girls fragile, then reaches for the softest parts with dirty hands. After a while, even tenderness sounds like a wolf trying the doorknob at midnight. I stopped checking for the monster under the bed when I realized it was out roaming the living room.

And somewhere beneath the powder pink ruffles and the vintage tile glow, I stopped wondering whether I was safe, and started wondering if a girl in a fairytale is ever allowed to put the gun down.

When Edoardo asked me to shoot some portraits of him, I didn’t hesitate... there was an instant excitement about where it could go. This one means a lot to me.. bringing an idea to life side by side with Edoardo La Francesca - Artist at his own studio. It was a type of collaboration where his brush and my camera met somewhere in between.
