De Expo in Eindhoven is voorbij, maar gelukkig worden de prachtfoto's nog eens tentoongesteld op de Foto/VideoFair in Eerstel! 6-7 juni 2026... een tweede kans als jullie de expo nog niet gezien hebben!

Ik ben ontzettend trots dat ik deel mag uitmaken van de groep fotografen die de schouders hebben gezet onder een prachtig project 100 Fotovrienden. Ik heb al een proefversie van het wondermooie boek mogen bekijken, ik ben zelf zwaar onder de indruk van dit adembenemend werk van meer dan 400 pagina's.
Ik zal op de expo aanwezig zijn op zaterdag 23 mei en zondag 24 mei 2026 tijdens de openingsuren.

The tunnels were used by Viet Cong soldiers as hiding spots during combat, as well as serving as communication and supply routes, hospitals, food and weapon caches and living quarters for numerous North Vietnamese fighters. The tunnel systems were of great importance to the Viet Cong in their resistance to American and ARVN forces, and helped to counter the growing American military presence.

The tunnels contained various bamboo traps made by the Viet Cong to injure and potentially kill South Vietnam's Tunnel Rats if they breached the tunnels. The tunnels also contained ventilation shafts to release smoke from fire and any poisonous gases pumped into the tunnels by the American troops.

The “burning monk” refers to the Vietnamese Buddhist monk Thich Quang Duc, who set himself on fire in Saigon on June 11, 1963. This protest against the persecution of Buddhists by the South Vietnamese government, captured in a famous photograph by Malcolm Browne, shocked the world and increased international pressure on the regime of Ngô Đình Diệm.
Reason: Protest against the discrimination of Buddhists in favor of Catholicism under President Ngô Đình Diệm.
The Photo: Malcolm Browne won the World Press Photo of the Year award with his iconic photo of the self-immolation.
Consequences: The act led to greater international pressure on the Diệm government and contributed to the eventual fall of the regime in November 1963.
Legacy: The image symbolizes ultimate protest and meditation during extreme situations.
Thich Quang Duc's act was followed by other self-immolations by Buddhist monks during that period.
