Litrato Gallería “With photography, a new language has been created” – Ernst Haas

We are freelance photographers and English teachers living in Vietnam, with a particular interest in portraiture, narrative, landscape, nature, and travel photography. As explorers at heart, We've had the privilege of traveling to a variety of amazing locations throughout the world with our cameras in hand. What first attracted us to travel photography was a couple of years spent living and workin

g in Vietnam – a stark contrast to our native Philippines. We prefer to equate our experience living abroad to that of a child—seeing things for the first time, hearing a new language for the first time, and embarking on a journey to acquire a new set of cultural norms. Even the simplest chores become new experiences, and each experience requires your whole concentration. With a lifelong love of photography, we've determined that the best way to record all of these new sensory experiences would be via a lens. We've always been creative, but until we found photography, we struggled to have a genuine connection to our work. With previous creative forms, namely painting and drawing, we've discovered that it was very simple to conceive an artwork, but that its execution often fell short of my expectations. Through photography, we were able to develop the capacity to transform a concept into a finished result that we were pleased with. As frenetic people, the physical elements of photography—walking about investigating, adjusting the camera's settings, focusing the lens, and actuating the shutter—further linked us to art, enabling us to maintain an intense concentration on our work. While some photographers prefer a controlled setting, the excitement of the unknown in the outdoors drives us to produce additional snaps.

Năm mới đến rồi, còn xin chúc gia đình ta một nụ cười cho lòng thêm ấm áp, 1 ánh mắt cho hạnh phúc tràn đầy, 1 lời nói cho trọn vẹn niềm tin, 1 chút hờn ghen cho yêu thương tỏa sáng, 1 trái tim hồng cho tình yêu thủy chung.

Happy New Year!

I'd like to go there with you - the dream you spoke about the other day. You assured me that everything was perfect over there. By any chance, do you recall the way?

Recollection.

Images of banyan trees, wells, a common house, and a village gate spring to mind when one thinks of typical Red River Delta villages. Duong Lam Ancient Village, Vietnam's oldest cultural landmark, has all of these nostalgic qualities.

Many of the village's old characteristics have been preserved, making it ideal for a peaceful and nostalgic weekend vacation.

Laterites may be found practically anyplace in Duong Lam, forming an intrinsic part of the town. Laterites, the main material of walls, gates, and wells, are abundant in Mong Phu hamlet, lying under fields, garden ponds, or deep down below. Laterite, both soil and a rock type rich in iron and aluminum, is frequently soft below but becomes firmer over time once it is dug up to create buildings. Houses’ walls and fences built of rough dark honey-brown brick-shaped laterites along the village road offer a particular charm.

Historic and cultural aspects are still visible in the Duong Lam Village, which is located 45 kilometers west of Hanoi in Son Tay Town. It has 956 old homes, some of which date back to 1649, 1703, and 1850.

This village is the first Vietnamese town to be certified as a national-level architectural art site.

I can't remember the first time I visited a foreign country, but I do recall my fascination with exploring new places and cultures. In fact, I'm pretty sure it was one of the main reasons why I decided to live abroad - to be able to really get lost somewhere.
