This majestic building is the clubhouse at the historic Foxburg Country Club situated about 250 feet above the Allegheny River and the home of the American Golf Hall of Fame. The golf course is the oldest in the United States in continuous use...founded in 1887.

Recently my wife did an overnight trip to Deep Creek, MD for our anniversary. As we were out exploring we stopped at this overlook at US 48 in Mt. Storm, WV to take in the incredible view. These are the Ridge-and-Valley Appalachian Mountains viewed from atop the Allegheny Front...where the Allegheny Mountains terminate.

March begins the transition from winter into spring. One of the main elements of spring is thunderstorms as the warmth of summer battles to replace the cold of winter. Recently, during an abnormally warm stretch of weather in western PA, we had a decent thunderstorm one Saturday afternoon. These two lightning bolts are the first captures of the season. What surprised me is the amount of forks coming off of each main channel. Nature is quite amazing!!

Pittsburgh...a city of industry, education, business, and recreation. Pittsburgh in some ways never changes, but in many ways is always changing.

One example of this change is the ice breaking apart on the Monongahela River on an unusually pleasant winter day. A sign that spring is not far off as the sun climbs and temperatures warm. The Duquesne Incline ascends to the top of Mt. Washington offering its riders a breathtaking view of our gorgeous city.

Pull up a chair!

This weekend we got walloped with 18" of snow here in western Pennsylvania. Since the roads are still being treated, and the snow is a bit deep for hiking, I was looking for some creative photos to take around the house. Our deck furniture caught my attention with the symmetrical pile of untouched snow on the table and that one chair was slightly pulled out from the table, almost like it was waiting for a guest. So...I decided to call this one...Pull Up A Chair. Stay safe, stay warm, and enjoy the slower time that winter brings.

This is the final image of the group that I took over the holiday break.

This lonely oak tree stands proudly in this cornfield outside of Slippery Rock, PA. I later found out that the tree is dead, but I'm glad the owner didn't cut it down and is letting nature run it's course. It'll be interesting to see how it changes as it decays. Looking at this tree one can't help but wonder about all the different seasons and weather it experienced during it's life, and yet it stood.
