GOALS ✨

Family goals. Maternity goals. Picture goals.

But let me tell you. We had a few hiccups with this session’s location, and walked about a mile each way to get to this location just in time due to parking issues. I said to my clients let’s change plans and go somewhere else for fear of sending my client and friend into early labor (I would have NEVER forgiven myself), but she was committed and she said WE ARE DOING THIS. With her husband telling me basically she’s the boss, yeah let’s do this . . . we set out on a last minute adventure, detoured and got PURE GOLD for this sweet maternity session.

Beyond grateful that clients that trust me, don’t judge me when my original plans go up in complete flames and pivot when needed ✨ Helps that we are friends in real life too. I am happy to post now, and say she did not go into early labor, we got some killer photos and we are excited to be welcoming baby #3 to this pack soon! Would go the extra distance (mile uphill each way) for your session, too?

Having a mental block over here 👈🏼 , and like everything to get through it, I just need to start. To get over that first hurdle.

So, I’m starting here, with something that brings me great joy. Dogs at my family sessions. 💯
More importantly, These friends, that have brought joy to my life for years. I thank the Marine Corps that they brought our husbands to the same duty station in SC, and I found Jess 10 years ago. She has made me countless dinners, given me countless pep talks, has been my deployment battle buddy multiple times now, her husband has stepped in to help when I needed a hand, and their love of life is infectious - their kids inherited this too!

In light of recent events in my life, the sudden and horrible loss of Navy and Marine aviation “family” and other things happening behind the scenes, everything I think to say or post here seems just trivial.

So here I am, just reminding myself that it’s okay to feel all the deep heavy feelings, but remember, one foot in front of the other and list out the things that I am truly thankful for. Always making that list are my friends, my people/support system and my Navy and Marine Corps family ❤️ including this family right here. ⠀⠀⠀⠀

has taken the world by storm. ✈️ Breaking box office numbers.
I am over here admiring all the cinematography I have seen, yes ABSOLUTELY INSANE and I can’t get over it, but also I love see the photographer behind all the the promos for the film’s posters, even Lady Gaga’s theme song poster. That’s his job. HOW COOL IS THAT JOB!? Am I the only one geeking out about that!?

I am still having a “pinch me” moment over here. I get to take photos of real service members and their families, that are so proud of what they do, in front of these incredible jets. My job is insanely cool too, and I will never get over that. NEVER.
But for next time, if needs an additional photographer that is familiar with the jet subject matter, I know a girl that would TOTALLY make herself available (hint hint 😎 right here). ⠀⠀⠀

Love + summer are both taking off! ✈️

Some of you may know this already, but I am traveling to the east coast for work, and to see family.
Combo with a good old fashioned thunderstorm (we don’t get those in SoCal) and my heart is already so full over here. This is what I needed at a perfect time during our deployment.

These awesome clients got married at the gorgeous (but super windy) courthouse in San Diego the day before jet setting to their international wedding celebration. 🤍

I am LOVING these courthouse weddings more and more. Even Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian tied the knot at a Cali courthouse this week! Who all is getting married this year? Every step of your wedding festivities should be documented in my opinion 🙌🏼. What do you think?

I ran out of bread.

If you have a 4 year old who looks forward to the real deal PB&J sandwiches on weekends because his preschool is nut free at school, you are feeling me right now on dropping this ball yesterday. 😅

What will always stick out in my mind from the homecoming day, (it was my very last one of a set of 5 in 3 days coming off this aircraft carrier group 📷 ) was this couple being so HAPPY to be back together in the USA on Valentine’s Day. Also, I was left alone because my husband’s aircraft carrier replaced this one in the world, leaving me alone on the international day of love. ❤️

Where I am going with this and bread??? My client showed up on HER homecoming day armed and ready to shower ME with a gift of the most yummy delicious homemade (still warm mind you) sourdough bread package with love, thoughtfulness and care + a professional grade label and handwritten note all for me. If you have been following me, you KNOW I cried. Over bread. And you know what, that bread was INCREDIBLE and worth my tears for the taste alone, but I will never forget that incredibly sweet gesture + this session. We even pivoted when we couldn’t go on top of the carrier deck like we originally planned, and headed to the beach . . . and even though there were some tractors pushing around sand, we worked around it and got a killer cloudy sunset. My gratitude for this beautiful earth is never ending. 🌎

I have traveled near and far to appreciate and admire its wonder and beauty. It serves up the best backdrops for my clients. Even on occasion for myself (Yes, that’s actually me and not a selfie in my stories). 📷

In this case I did plop down, set my interval timer on my camera and just sat and reflected as I enjoyed the final fleeting rays of the day, in a spot that I hold dear to my heart. I brought my son here numerous times in the past to explore, learn and discover and watched him grow into the little boy that his is now. I have even come here after some of my toughest sessions and times in life to just sit, ground myself and “feel”.

Today is Earth day, so let us take a little bit of time to reflect on the environmental impact we have on our planet and how we can do better moving forward for us, and for generations to come. Take that time to admire some of its beauty. Who is getting outside today to appreciate our 🌍?

This look. 🇺🇸 This husband admiring his wife - now mom.

He waited to meet his son, but also to look at his wife now as a mother in person for the first time coming home from his first deployment.

It’s not just about the spouse looking at her husband meeting and holding their baby, for the first time ever coming home from deployment, it’s also about this moment. This look of adoration and appreciation. ❤️

This is what got me. At 2 a.m. in the middle of the night, this new dad was seeing his wife for the first time in person as a mom, and I think this is up there with a groom’s reaction of seeing his bride walk down the isle for the first time. What do you think?

“What do I do with my hands?” 👋🏼

“We aren’t models.”

This is 99.9% of my clients. Who can relate to the above when thinking about getting pictures done? 🙋🏻‍♀️

I get it, even stepping in front of the camera myself I start overthinking it sometimes. . . and I have a background in modeling (the eyes got me jobs back in the day.)

Let me ease your mind by telling you that you don’t need to know what to do with your hands, you don’t need to be a model. You just need to be open to the process (I typed that out and immediately thought I was a contestant on the Bachelor, ha!) and just TRUST ME!

I ask that you walk into a session with me (and frankly any photographer ever) with a positive attitude, body positive self-talk and ready to move around laugh and love.
I repeat, POSITIVE ATTITUDES AND BODY POSITIVE SELF-TALK.

Leave the rest up to the pros. I want you to leave feeling confident, even when chaos went down during our session perhaps, that we captured the true essence of you/your people.

These wonderful clients of mine fall into that 99.9% and they swung for the fences, trusted and freaking knocked it out of the park for their engagement session! Check out that last slide 🙌🏼

Our countdown has finally officially started. This is my world, today was our “See you later”. 🌎 Although a deployment is not ideal, I am filled with immense pride + I welcome our time apart to start counting after long work-ups with tons of time apart over the last year getting ready for this moment.

Ready to LFG 🚀💪🏼❤️ We are ready.

But also, If Celine Dion and Adele could just not come on the radio for the next week out of nowhere that would be ideal.

Thank You Veterans 🇺🇸⭐️ Out of all the fancy pictures I have of him recently, this one really resonated with me on this day.

Just a Marine Dad, fully geared up, saying goodbye. He was giving a last high five to his little dude before immediately walking to his jet for another work-up, ahead of his deployment. You can see us on the other side in his visor reflection, as well as the flightline, and those strong spouses who were also sending off their Marine.

Thank you is not enough to all those who have served and are currently serving this great nation. 🇺🇸 I am surrounded by military members who have proudly served, and who are still serving in my immediate family. I am proud to be surrounded by many great friends/clients we walk along beside in this military life. Thank a Veteran today. 🇺🇸⭐️

We are truly thankful for him. 🇺🇸
