Two of my favorite panorama photos I ever took.

One is in Maui from just around the Pali looking at Haleakala during sunrise.

The other is here in the high desert taken in Joshua tree National park looking down at the Coachella valley(I think), it’s called Keys view.

Both images are multiple photos stitched together in photoshop, keys view is obviously a lot more hense it’s a more wide panorama. Click on them individually for the best quality.

So back in June of 2018 when I still lived on Maui I was absolutely hooked on shooting astrophotography, and if the moon wasn’t super bright and the weather was clear, I was out on the weekends shooting as much as possible, all night long.

Well this night I had got to a place in Paia and had all my gear setup, and sure enough just as I started taking photos, the clouds rolled in. So unfortunately I had to pack up and leave, and as I was heading down the highway back home to Kahului I decided to stop on the side of the road and try something.

I’ve always loved light trail photography, and wanted to see if I could use my red flashlight to light things up a bit, plus light from cars driving by, as well as the clouds with the Milky Way peeking behind them.

It definitely took some trial and error, 1st two images are what my car and lighting setup looked like, 2nd two are my favorite images I captured that night and actually have those hanging up in my office at home lol. Just goes to show as a astrophotographer just because the clouds got in the way, doesn’t mean you can’t still have fun!
