Last night was a reminder that the best love stories aren’t rushed. They’re built in quiet moments, shared laughter, and simply enjoying being together.

Now the countdown begins… 322 days until they say ✨ I Do ✨

A little road trip yesterday to Frederick, Maryland, with these special souls.

I got to walk through the streets, sidewalks, and little corners that helped tell their story.

The place he grew up. The roads they’ve driven a hundred times. The spots that both hold pieces of childhood memories and the beginnings of their relationship.

And that’s what I love most about engagement sessions… they aren’t just about pretty locations. They’re about meaning.

Because years from now, these photos won’t just remind them what they looked like. They’ll remind them where it all happened. The hometown that shaped them. The familiar places that watched them grow. The backdrop to first dates, late-night drives, and the ordinary moments that eventually became a love story.

There was something so sweet about being invited into that part of their world last night. To see it through their eyes. To hear the stories behind each stop. To document not just who they are together, but where their story began.

Those are the kinds of places that deserve to be remembered.

I spend so much of my life documenting everyone else’s memories that sometimes I forget what it feels like to be the one waiting for the email.

The one refreshing their inbox.

The one wondering if someone managed to freeze all of the little moments that already feel like they’re slipping by too fast.

Today, I got to be that mom.

The one curled up on the couch, scrolling through photos with tears in her eyes. The one stopping on images that would mean absolutely nothing to anyone else—but everything to me.

The way Caden tucked himself into us.

The way Justin looked at our family.

The way this season of life feels right now.

Not the posed smiles. Not the perfect moments.

The us moments.

And as I sat there looking through our gallery, I felt something I hear from my clients all the time but don’t always get to experience for myself.

Relief.

Gratitude.

Joy.

Because these photographs gave me something I can never get back on my own: proof that we were here. That this season happened. That my little boy was this little. That these ordinary days were actually the good old days in the making.

It made me appreciate my job in a whole new way.

Because I don’t just deliver photos.

I deliver the feeling of getting to hold onto something that was never meant to last.

And as a mom, I can tell you that’s worth more than I can put into words.

And a special thanks to .photo for taking the time to document my sweet family. Your an incredible soul and I will always be in debt to you for the way you interact with Caden ✨

I’ve seen dresses sewn minutes before a ceremony.

Groomsmen split their pants.

Bridesmaids disappear.

Bouquets fall apart.

Rain. Wind. Power outages. Delays. Even a tornado

And every single time, we figured it out.

When you hire a wedding photographer, you’re not just hiring someone to take pretty pictures. You’re hiring someone who can stay calm when things don’t go according to plan. Someone who can problem solve, pivot, fluff dresses, pin boutonnieres, track down missing family members, adjust timelines, find new portrait locations, and somehow still create beautiful images in the middle of the chaos.

Years of experience have taught me that wedding days are rarely perfect, but they don’t need to be.

Because when things go wrong, you deserve someone by your side who has probably seen it before and knows how to keep the day moving forward.

The truth is, some of my favorite weddings have been the ones that didn’t go exactly as planned.

Not because everything went right.

But because everyone focused on what mattered most anyway.

And that’s a story worth remembering.

A quiet piece of land that already holds a thousand memories. A farmhouse porch. The sound of the wind moving through the trees. The people who have been there through every season of your life gathered close enough to reach out and hold your hand.

And if you ask me?

There is something incredibly powerful about that.

Because when you remove all the distractions, what remains is the reason we celebrate in the first place.

Two people choosing each other.

Not because the flowers were perfect.
Not because the venue was impressive.
Not because everything looked a certain way.

But because they found their person.

There is a freedom in intimate weddings. A freedom to laugh when you want to laugh. To cry when the emotions hit. To hug your grandparents a little tighter. To stand barefoot in the grass if that’s who you are. To spend the day focused on the people who matter most rather than everything happening around you.

As I stood there documenting this little backyard wedding, I couldn’t help but think that sometimes the smallest celebrations leave the biggest impact.

Because love doesn’t need a ballroom to be meaningful.

Sometimes all it needs is a backyard, a farmhouse, and the people who have loved you long before this day and will continue loving you long after it.

And honestly, that’s pretty beautiful.
