A week in historic Lancaster, Pennsylvania. 🍂
I recently had the opportunity to spend a week in Lancaster house and pet sitting, and what a lovely little getaway it turned out to be!
I stayed in a beautifully renovated historic home dating back to the 1860s, surrounded by the kind of neighborhood that makes you want to slow down and take the long way home. Tree-lined sidewalks, beautiful old brick rowhouses, historic churches, charming architecture, and fall leaves scattered along the streets. With Halloween decorations popping up throughout the neighborhood, it felt like something out of a storybook.
I spent my time wandering through downtown, discovering little boutiques and shops, local restaurants and coffee shops. I also had the opportunity to tour Wheatland, the historic home of our 15th president, James Buchanan, and attend Mass at St. Mary's Church, established in 1741 and recognized as the fourth-oldest Catholic church in the original thirteen colonies.
And, of course, there was Nutmeg, my sweet feline companion for the week!
A beautiful city, a lovely home, a sweet kitty, and a week well spent! While I didn't take my camera along on my walks through the city, I did capture a few photos of Nutmeg (of course!) and some of the beautiful details around the home. Here's a little glimpse of my week.
