Esperanza + Zach in Yosemite ✨ The most stunning and peaceful day with these two. We met up in the valley & they shared private vows beside the Merced River then washed each other’s feet on the beach. We joined their family in the high country for their ceremony & then spent the rest of the evening soaking in the views as the rocks turned pink, then the skies behind even pinker.

Espi told me that our adventures out here are what originally inspired them to come to Yosemite. Now, it’s the place they got engaged and then married, forever in their hearts as a sacred setting they can return to again and again. This kind of influence is something we’ll never take for granted, we like to call it positive peer pressure ☺️💛 I’m so thankful.

The sweetest engagement session with these two in Yosemite ✨ Wandering through a mossy forest (I wish you could smell it through the screen!!) and then watching the sun blast golden light through the valley below until the very last drops of day when the rocks turned blue and the skies turned pink. It’s been a while since I’ve seen the sunset right here & I’m happy to report that it’s just as stunning as I remembered 🥹

Being back in Yosemite has me reflecting on all the years we spent here earlier in our business ✨ I’m curious, was around back when we shot this elopement in 2018? This was one of those magical times where Ailsa & Austin were just so overcome in the moment together, we sat quietly behind our cameras and smiled so big (and I’m sure our palms were a bit sweaty!) while they chose to sit on the edge and hang their feet over Yosemite valley. It was completely candid but made for some of my favorite photos at the time. It then went really viral and I remember being so worried it would influence photographers to talk their couples into sitting on the edge. I used to be so much more worried about what other people would do back then. Now, I know we all have free will and others’ choices aren’t my responsibility 😂

But I still see these photos make the rounds on Pinterest & I’ll always smile remembering what it felt like to watch two people so thoroughly enjoying each other and the place they were in. It’s interesting to me how personal these photos feel, and to realize that all of our elopements feel that way for me. We put so much of ourselves into every couple that their photos, while they’re completely photos of them and their day, still feel like a documentation of ourselves at the time too. I see that version of me who took these when I look at them. This job is such a gift 💛 I can’t believe we’ve been lucky enough to keep doing it for over ten years.

And I can’t wait to see what I create in Yosemite this week, as an entirely new person yet still the girl who hung her own feet over the edge to get the perfect angle for these photos ✨☺️

These two reached out to me to take photos of their little family, just as they are right now, with their precious 16-year-old & 6-year-old dogs. Their love for these pups is so tender and felt really special to witness. Spending an hour together as the sun set behind the faraway cliffs, talking about our dogs and reflecting on how lucky we feel to grow up with them. Knowing Leon is the same age as my boy Charlie🪽feels especially sacred to me, to get to step into this moment with them and capture their love right now.

We don’t deserve dogs!!!

Oh my goodness, I have so much to say about this magical evening with Jillian & Tyler. The day started out extremely stormy with surprise lighting, downpour, and hail. We considered rescheduling but I kept an eye on the radar and held out hope because I know the best desert sunsets come after storms. It rained on us the whole drive up, but thankfully the thunder and lightning had subsided that afternoon. The rain seemed to stop for us right when we parked, and I’m not even exaggerating when I say the weather was flawless the entire session. A beautiful mix of golden sunlight, moody clouds, and then a stunning orange horizon. We could see rain in the distant canyons the entire time, but it never reached us until the moment we wrapped up and hiked back. Then, as if to prove a point, it down-poured the whole drive back.

As an added bonus to the magic of the day, my brother had backpacked in Canyonlands the night before and I’d told him we were doing this session at this overlook. On his way out, he stopped there that morning for a watercolor study and decided to stash it (in a zip loc bag) under a rock for us to find as a gift to them. He sent me instructions (we both know this area so well, so when he told me the tree it was near I knew the exact spot!) and I got to find it with Jillian and Tyler as we were hiking out! Such a fun moment & now they have an extra special keepsake from their visit to Moab 🥹 thanks Conner.

FALL + SPRING FAM SESSIONS 🍂🌾 Now that we’re solidly into fall here, I am opening up a few dates in my schedule for family sessions in November + the spring.

These family sessions are very experience-based, with the majority of our time spent allowing the moments to unfold while you & the kids get to be your wild, true selves. I’ll always prioritize a few posed photos of everyone looking at the camera, but the candids are our favorites & I feel they’ll be the ones you love for decades to come. We’ll collaborate to choose your location from red rock towers, river or creekside spots with an emphasis on water play, fall colors and changing leaves in November, wildflowers in the spring, mountain views, or whatever else is drawing you to Moab. All abilities, outdoor comfort levels, & versions of family (yes I count dogs 🥰) are welcome. My goal is for these sessions to feel easy, light, and fun.

Here’s how it works:
🍂One hour with me (Abbi) in Moab
🌾$2000 (half of our usual session price)
✨first come, first serve
🎄Note, November sessions can expect their galleries back in time to order holiday gifts & cards!

Direct message or follow the link in my bio/story to contact me and secure your spot 💫

Seven years of Chris & Cassie 🥹 It shouldn’t be legal for two people to be this hot *and* funny but here they are doing it all!

Since their engagement photos, pre-wedding session, & wedding in 2018 these two have become close friends that feel more like family. When Chris signed up for a race in Moab on their anniversary weekend we agreed it was a good time for some updated photos & I’m glad we made this session happen when we did because what I assumed was “just” a marathon was actually a 240 mile race (????? wtf) and I don’t think photos on their actual anniversary the day he crossed the finish line would have been in the cards (although, this man will do just about anything for Cassie so I wouldn’t put it past him). I’m including a throwback to their wedding photos + one iPhone shot minutes after the finish line. Because that’s what love is too 🥹

We love you two!!!!!

When it comes to elopement ceremonies, people sometimes wonder if it’ll feel “as special” with no guests around. I like to remind them to reflect on all the special moments of their relationship; the times the sparks first flew, the first “I love you,” the moment they knew they’d found the one. What about a favorite hike they’ve shared, a sunset they’ll never forget, the adventure story they love to tell. So many of these building blocks in their relationship were just the two of them, so why would it feel strange for this one to be quiet and distraction-free as well?

Here are a few favorite photos from Elyse & Robert’s ceremony surrounded by icebergs & mountains, just the two of them promising forever together, just the way they will spend so much of their relationship and lives. What a dream 🩵

Our last session in Alaska had a little of everything - rain, wind, fall colors, watching belugas in the distance, and a rare pink sunset over the turnagain arm. A total dream 🩵🌲🌊🐳
