I have been to Yosemite NP 8 times, but this is by far the best view I have witnessed. Yosemite is at its very best immediately after snowfall and clearing storm conditions. The moon peeping through passing clouds gives additional aura to the image. Make no mistake, it was snowing heavily throughout the route; we put on snow chains and drove at snail's pace. Reached at the Tunnel View location only to see it jam packed with 100s of photographers; fought for parking spot and could have been cited for parking violation; spent an 1 hour in high 20s deg F - but all that effort was totally worth it.

The hot air balloon festival that happened at Windsor on June 9 was a great learning experience on how a hot air balloon is set up and operated. It was something that I never experienced before. Needless to say, numerous brightly lit colored balloons provided excellent potential for photographing as well. The only catch is that you have to wake up at 4 AM to witness this event and even after the efforts, the pilots may decide to cancel the event because of unfavorable weather conditions.

A queit and lonely morning view from SF Hawkhill!
On memorial day long weekend, I was surprised to see absolutely no crowd at Hawkhill, which is typically filled with tourists and photographers alike.

SF cityscape and Golden Gate Bridge in receeding morning fog!
This pic was taken from Slackers Hill. While driving back, there was thick fog and I could not see any part of the Golden Gate Bridge. I luckily had my car gear with me and decided to hike up the Slackers Hill. Within 15min, majority of the fog was already gone and I captured what little was left behind.

Dawn at the Gates!
I went for sunrise at Gates of the Valley. Along with the dramatic granite cliffs, I could also capture some other interesting features. Merced river is typically in full flow during spring and I could capture the reflections of sunrise colors. Also another feature is the color difference between the trees adjacent to the river bank and the taller trees in the background. I used a 1 second exposure to obtain a silky flow in the water.
