A massive fire in Poughkeepsie, New York has destroyed a one-of-a-kind historical building. At least 15 Dutchess and Ulster County departments responded Wednesday afternoon. The fire began around 11 a.m. Wednesday at the former Hudson River Psychiatric Center, a hospital complex built in the 1800s and designated a historic landmark in 2007. Officials say the lack of working hydrants made the response more difficult, forcing crews to rely on tankers and hydrants up to two miles away. The complex had been vacant since the early 2000s and was undergoing renovations and stabilization.
