I couldn’t let the unshaved version stand for the evening so I went right up for that trim and shave. Now you won’t have nightmares about that scruffy old man tonight. 🤓

Well more precisely, the new prescription and glasses 👓 arrived … a pretty big chang after nearly six years. And no more lens fog! I guess its time to shave and trim. 🤓

This is AWESOME!👏

This is AWESOME!👏

Dorothy Wren knits every evening from 7pm until she gets tired.

For the last six years, she has been knitting the same thing.

Dorothy is 75. She was a nurse for 40 years. When she retired she needed something for her hands to do. She had always knitted — blankets, jumpers, small things. Then her grandson asked her to knit him a dragon.

She said yes without thinking about what that meant.

The dragon is now life-sized. It weighs 340 pounds. It fills her living room completely — the tail wraps around the sofa, the wings touch both walls, the head rests near the fireplace. There is one armchair still accessible. Dorothy sits in it every evening and knits.

"It keeps me company," she said.

Her grandson is 14 now. He helped her with the wings on his school holidays for three years. He says it is the best thing that has ever happened in the family.

Dorothy's daughter suggested donating it to a museum.

Dorothy said she would think about it.

She is still thinking.

The Brightest Stars

Welcome to "The Brightest Stars," a journey through the electric heartbeat of the city. This black-and-white photograph captures the nocturnal energy of an urban landscape, where towering billboards and luminous signage tell stories in light.

Amidst the inky expanse, financial giants like “Prudential” and “JPMorgan” declare their presence, their logos shimmering against the night sky. The surrounding architecture, draped in layers of advertisements, weaves a dense tapestry of modern commercialism. The stark contrast between the radiant signs and the deep shadows evokes an almost theatrical drama—a nod to my background in literature and theatre.

In this piece, the ceaseless rhythm of city life takes center stage, each light a star in an urban constellation. "The Brightest Stars" is more than a photograph; it is a symphony of light and shadow, a poetic testament to the relentless energy that defines our urban existence.

Here is a question worth sitting with: what do you actually see when you walk into your own home?

Not what is there, but what do you still notice? What draws your eye?

What have you stopped seeing because it has been there so long?

"Peeling Brick" and the online art gallery is here, if you need to switch things up.

Urbanrood

"Urbanrood" is my ode to the hidden poetry found in the passage of time. As a self-taught fine art photographer and digital artist, I find my muse in the overlooked and the weathered. This abstract close-up of a rusted metal surface, gridded and precise, reveals an unexpected world of rich, earthy tones. Deep reds, browns, and vibrant blue-greens—each hue born from the alchemy of oxidation—come together in a harmonious dance of color and texture.

The symmetrical pattern of the metal grid provides a sense of order, a man-made rhythm, only to be beautifully interrupted by the organic embrace of rust and corrosion. This juxtaposition of the predictable and the chaotic narrates a story of decay that is paradoxically filled with beauty, an industrial relic transformed by nature's touch.

"Urbanrood" reflects my deep-seated love for nature, wildlife, and architecture—a homage to the silent conversations between the built environment and the elements that weather it. I invite you to discover the elegance in its imperfection, to let it speak to your soul and adorn your space with its quiet splendor.
