As the morning sun swept across Soda Butte Valley, a pair of grizzly bear twins struggled to swim the deep rushing creek as they pursued their mother who waited on the other shore for her cubs to arrive.

One of my favorite wolves of all time, wolf 1479 F from the Junction Butte Pack in Yellowstone National Park was killed legally just outside the park in the state of Montana during the annual wolf hunt. We believe that she may have left us with at least one black wolf puppy surviving, which is now a yearling in the Junction Butte pack. She was a favorite amongst wolf watchers and will be dearly missed.

This sow and cub are both cinnamon bears. This color is a phase of black bear, which in this case does not mean that their color will change but rather that this is one of the several shades of black bears that can be found in Yellowstone Park.

In a somewhat amusing incident I watched this black wolf walk away from a bison carcass where another wolf was eating and he wandered off into the river to snack on a very old elk carcass. I guess he prefers elk over bison for breakfast even if it is old. This is a male wolf from the Junction Butte Pack in Yellowstone National Park.

We each have a limited time on earth. Decide what is important and then you will know how to spend that time.

All creatures matter... All creatures belong.

Yellowstone National Park is full of a wealth of wild creatures and they all play an important part in the balance of the ecosystem.
