I’m not a great videographer, but I just couldn’t resist taking some videos of these black bear cubs wrestling. They were so rowdy and I could’ve watched them forever. I have a few more videos of them and of course pictures! I can’t wait to share more!

I feel like a coyote post always stirs up some controversy. While many look at them as a nuisance animal, coyotes play a vital role in the Smokies ecosystem even though they were not originally located in the park. Red wolves were native to the Smokies, but with their extinction in the area (they are only located in the Albemarle Peninsula in North Carolina now) and a failed reintroduction, coyotes took their place as the apex canines in GSMNP.

While in Yellowstone National Park last year, my friend and I drove past this Bison giving birth not too far from the side of the road. It was incredible to witness a newborn bison calf have its first moments in Yellowstone, but I knew that there would be challenges (between the rugged environment, harsh weather, and skilled predators) that it would have to overcome as it grows in the wild.

A fun fact to know is that bison calves can stand and walk within minutes and run within hours of birth!

As one of the smaller spring and summer residents of the Smokies, the male Indigo Bunting with its vibrant blue feathers, is always a treat to spot. This picture was taken right after a sparring match with another male. This specific male was the victor of his perch, immediately exhibiting what I believe to be this territorial posture with his crown feathers raised.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park trip May of 2026 in the books!

I lost my dog of 12 years, Charlie Anne (3rd picture), a few months ago. It’s been a rough few months, but I wanted to have my other dog, Oscar (1st and 2nd picture), tag along for this trip since he has also had a hard time with losing her. He did so well and I was happy to enjoy this smokies trip with him like I did with my other dog a few years ago.

I’ve included a few “teasers” (last 3 pictures) of some pictures (and a few videos) that are coming from this trip! I can’t wait to start editing and sharing them 😊

Holding onto the last little bit of my Smokies trip like… 🐻🌿

I took so many photos on this trip and can’t wait to start editing and sharing them over the next few days. I had so much fun watching this set of this year’s cubs. Lots of pictures and some videos to come of them and many others 😊

Wishing I could be taking in this view of the Tetons in person right now🏔️🌼

I probably won’t be able to go back to Yellowstone or Grand Teton for a bit, but I’m excited for my upcoming Smoky Mountain trip!

This image was taken in Grand Teton National Park at T.A. Moulton barn in June of 2025.
