This past week has been full of severe weather all around Yankton, we have been fortunate. It has been awhile since I have been motivated to go photograph for myself, schools and sessions have been a handful this year.

Some sessions just have more meaning. We worked with Brady on his family's farm yesterday, the farm, as a kid, I used to ride my bicycle a mile and a half across gravel roads to go play Nintendo. Keep in mind this was 35 years ago. Thanks Brady, Darrell and Rachel!

I do not share much of the person behind the camera, the client only sees the results. The result does not reflect what it took to get there. Here is myself thinking out loud. A question i get, what is your favorite photo. A photographer does not have a favorite or best photo. Once that they declare an image as their best ever AND has stopped advancing, said photographer has peaked. Be proud of where you are without believing you've arrived. There is ALWAYS room for improvment, strive for it, make it your goal. That being said, try not to be too be critical of your work, do not overthink to the point you quit. Photography is a mental game of chess in the sense of perfection. Measure your ability by looking at your past work and say "what was i thinking", if you can do that every year, you are winning, you are winning against yourself. I feel this applies to every single photographer regardless of their they are in their journey.

Sam came in with a plan, and we had so much fun bringing it to life!

She’s a fun-loving senior who made the trip down from Minnesota with her family for her senior session. And there may have been just a little extra pressure on this one. Her parents come from the photography and printing world, so no pressure at all, right?

What made the session especially fun was having the whole family involved. They knew the process, had great ideas, and trusted us to create something that felt like Sam. Her personality came through from the very beginning, and we were able to create a great variety of images while keeping the experience relaxed and fun.

Thank you, Sam and family, for making the trip and trusting Meridian Photo with such an important milestone. It was a pleasure having all of you here!
