Nature Coast Challenge - Kayak Catch,Photo,Release Fishing Tournament A kayak catch-photo-release fishing tournment targeting redfish and seatrout in Yankeetown, Fl. ( Appx. 100 miles north of St. Petersburg).

The Nature Coast Challenge is a Catch, Photograph, and Release Kayak Fishing Tournament held in Yankeetown, Florida –Hosted by the Inglis Yankeetown Lions Club. Yankeetown is located on the west coast of Florida where the Withlacoochee River flows into the Withlacoochee Bay in the Gulf of Mexico. The 3rd Annual Nature Coast Challenge will be Saturday April 26, 2014 --- Captain’s Meeting Friday

April 25 2014 7:00 pm. Moving into the third year of the tournament the plan is to continue to learn fast and grow into one of the finest Kayak Fishing Tournaments in Florida. This is possible because kayak fishing is one of the fastest growing sports and Yankeetown is the perfect venue! Many Florida residents have no clue where the Withlacoochee and the Waccassa Bays are located. But those who regularly fish these rich, uncrowded waters know it’s the perfect place to spend a spring day in a kayak or canoe! Currently awards are $200.00 for the longest redfish, $200.00 for the longest sea trout, $200.00 for the longest redfish / sea trout slam, and new this year is a mixed bag prize of $200.00!! These are the minimum awards guaranteed to be paid. It is our expectation and intent, based on increased participation and sponsorships, to increase either the number of award categories, the dollar amounts or both before the start of this year’s tournament. Dear Kayak Angler,
Early registration for the 13th Annual Nature Coast Challenge Kayak Fishing Tournament will end Friday, March 15th. If you are interested in fishing this tournament, we encourage you to register online before Friday. After the 15th the registration fee will increase to $60.00 and we cannot guarantee a tournament t-shirt.

You can register for this year’s event online at www.naturecoastchallenge.com.

This year’s tournament will be held April 6, 2024, and as usual will begin at first light. The Captains’ Meeting and Fish Fry will be held Friday, April 5, 2024, meeting beginning at 7:00 PM, doors will open at 5:30 PM for Captains’ Check-in, followed by our Annual Fish Fry Dinner at 6:30. We realize many of you are fishing in the Crystal River event and we hope to see you next year!

We again will have a drawing for an awesome fishing kayak – freefeel® Moken 12.5 PDL. This rapid pedal Kayak is loaded with extras and has a standard retail value of $1400.00. Only 200 tickets will be sold for this drawing at $20.00 per ticket. You can purchase your ticket(s) now from any Inglis Yankeetown Lions Club member or at the NCC event. Tickets are available even if you are not fishing the tournament – please contact us at this email address if you would like to purchase kayak ticket(s).

Again, we welcome your guests to our Captains’ Dinner and ask for a donation of $20.00 per person to cover our costs.

Update on Tournament Date:
The date for the 2024 Nature Coast Challenge is April 6, 2024 with the Captain's Dinner Friday night April 5. On Saturday the 6th there will be an incoming tide from appx 8am to 1:30pm.
