A cozy, simple Christmas session designed to capture your family just as you are during the most magical time of year. 🤍

This year's Christmas minis will feature a simple, timeless setup with a clean white backdrop, Christmas tree, beautifully wrapped gifts, cozy blankets, a wooden rocking horse, and other warm holiday touches.

But these aren't just sit, smile, and look at the camera sessions.

We'll keep little ones busy and having fun with simple Christmas activities—decorating the tree, reading a Christmas story together, playing with a wooden train, snuggling up on the blanket, and lots of hugs, laughs, and cuddles in between.

You'll get a variety of images in just 15 minutes, including those classic everyone-looking-at-the-camera photos and the candid, connection-filled moments you'll want to remember.

One of my favorite parts of photographing families more than once is getting to watch their little ones grow. 🤍

The last time I photographed this sweet family, their little girl was still a baby and this time she was walking, exploring, and very determined to do things on her own.

So instead of trying to get her to stand still for photos, we let her lead the way. We explored around Tipsoo Lake, let her walk (a lot 😂), hold Mom and Dad’s hands, and just captured her exactly as she is in this stage of life.

Because someday, the tiny hand holding yours and the independent little toddler who wants to walk everywhere are going to be the things you want to remember most. 🤍

I loved getting to photograph these three again and document another little piece of their story.

The little laughs, the way they look at you, the stage where they still fit right into your arms. 🥹

They change so much faster than you realize, and that’s exactly why I love capturing the in-between moments like this, the ones that feel like them right now.

Senior photos, but make it a mountain adventure 🏔️

Sydney’s session up at Tipsoo Lake was such a fun one. Getting out of town and into the mountains just makes senior photos feel like a whole experience, plus, you really can’t beat these views.

Sydney was hoping for some fog during her session, and right at the very end, it started rolling in. Perfect timing. 🙌🏻

Class of 2028, if mountain senior photos sound like your kind of thing, keep this on your radar for next summer.

I can’t believe we’re already this far into September and fall is right around the corner… even if the 80-degree weather says otherwise. 😂🍂

Sometimes the best thing you can do during a family session is just let the kids play. 🤍

For this session at Tipsoo Lake, these three were ready to explore, run around, and do their own thing, so that’s exactly what we leaned into.

I always take the kids’ lead during family sessions. If they’re into snuggling up for photos and following prompts, we’ll do that. If they’d rather run, play, explore, and be a little wild, I’ll follow them and capture everything as it unfolds.

Because happy kids = better photos. Every time.

And can we talk about these COLORS?! The pinky-purple dress with the greens, blues, and neutrals looked so good against all that Washington greenery. 😍

Tipsoo Lake continues to be one of my absolute favorite places to photograph families. 🌲

Family photos aren’t just for families with little ones. 🤎

I know I photograph a lot of families with toddlers and young kids, but there’s something so special about documenting this stage, too.

The kids who aren’t so little anymore. The daughters who are growing into their own people. The family dynamic that changes as they get older, start driving, graduate, head off to college, and eventually build lives of their own.

These seasons can feel so ordinary while you’re living them, but someday, you’ll want to remember exactly what your family looked like right now.

So yes, book the photos while they’re little. But don’t forget to keep documenting them as they grow, too. 🤎
