I’m just feeling pulled to share about this lately so take it or leave it.
Because I do all of this myself.
I read a book a few books and think, “should I start a bookstagram?”
I sketch something on a random Tuesday and think, “I could get really good and sell art”
I have a random thought to start a new hobby and immediately think how I can make money from it 🤦🏻♀️ WHY?!?
I don’t exactly know, and I’m not saying it’s wrong either. I just know for myself that doing things I genuinely enjoy purely for the fact that I enjoy it…makes me a happier human. And since I feel like, collectively, people are forgetting to live the human experience, I think we need to find leisure again.
Leisure isn’t just free time. Leisure is fully immersing yourself in something that you genuinely enjoy. You lose track of time. You don’t check your phone. You are fully present in the moment because you want to be.
But I’m also realizing, after sharing a little bit about this already that some people haven’t even heard of the word leisure. And since I sat in many college classes discussing leisure, studying theories, finding our own leisure activities then dissecting how we felt after…it’s kind of been beaten into my brain. In a good way 😂
So start here…think of what you loved as a kid or what you were drawn to. How can you bring that into your adult life if you’re still interested? It doesn’t have to look the same exact way but if you were genuinely interested once, there may be a part of you that’s still curious 🖤
