As a Chicago and Chicagoland wedding photographer based in Woodstock, Illinois, serving Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin, I love knowing what draws you in, whether it’s editorial portraits, beautiful details, romantic light, or those completely unplanned moments.

I’ll use your inspiration to understand your vision, then gently guide and prompt you when you need it and step back when the real moments are happening.

My approach blends editorial, candid, and traditional wedding photography so you get the portraits you’ll want framed, the details you spent months planning, and all those little moments you didn’t even realize were happening.

Do you want your wedding photographer to simply document your day, or help create some of the images you’ve been dreaming about?

That’s one of the biggest differences between documentary and editorial wedding photography.

A documentary or photojournalistic photographer primarily observes, allowing the day to unfold and capturing moments exactly as they happen with very little direction.

My approach is editorial with a strong candid side.

I’m always watching for the real, unscripted moments. The laughter, the tears, the quick glances, the unexpected reactions and all those little moments happening around you that you may not even notice until you see your gallery.

But I also know when to step in.

I’ll find the beautiful light, give you a simple prompt, adjust your positioning or create an opportunity for an image I know you’ll want to remember.

It’s not about staging your wedding day. It’s about knowing when to let a moment happen naturally and when a little guidance can help turn it into an incredible photograph.

You get the beautiful editorial portraits and the candid, emotional images that tell the story of what your wedding actually felt like.

Real moments. Thoughtful direction. A little bit of both.

These images were all shot without flash in a dimly lit church. But with the right equipment and editing skills I was able to produce quality images my clients will cherish.

Planning a church wedding? Ask about the photography rules before your wedding day.

Many churches do not allow flash photography during the ceremony, and some have very specific restrictions on where your photographer can stand or move.

That means your photographer needs to be prepared to work in extremely low light without sacrificing the quality of your images.

Professional equipment matters. I use high-end Nikon cameras and professional lenses designed to perform beautifully in low light, allowing me to capture sharp, clean images without flash when the church requires it. My cameras also record every image to two memory cards simultaneously for an immediate in-camera backup.

And I never photograph a wedding with just one of anything. Backup cameras, lenses, lighting and memory cards come with me because your wedding day doesn’t come with a redo.

Experience matters. Preparation matters. And knowing how to work within your church’s rules matters.
