A Full-Circle Hockey Photography Moment
Wow! What an incredible journey this has been.
On December 30, 2022, I photographed my very first hockey game for the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto: the AHL Chicago Wolves vs. Rockford IceHogs. It was a special opportunity that sparked an unforgettable adventure behind the lens.
Then, on November 5, 2023, I had the chance to photograph the Chicago Blackhawks vs. New Jersey Devils game. It was also my first time capturing rookie sensation Connor Bedard ( #98). At the time, I did not know just how historic those images might become for me.
Fast forward to August 2, 2026. During a visit to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, I stopped by the Chicago Blackhawks display and noticed a prominently featured photo of Bedard. Knowing that I had photographed every one of his home games except one, I thought to myself, "There's a chance that could be my photo."
Today, I went back and compared the image to my archives.
It was mine.
It's hard to describe how gratifying that feels. To know that one of my photographs is on display at the Hockey Hall of Fame and is helping preserve a small piece of NHL history is truly humbling. As someone who loves hockey and pursues photography as a passion, this is one of those moments that makes all the hard work, long hours, and dedication worth it.
Dreams really do have a way of coming full circle.
This October will mark my fifth season with the Hockey Hall of Fame.
